What are you reading?

well I haven’t posted my reads in a couple weeks, but they haven’t changed much since I’ve been so busy. LOL Two weeks ago I went home to PA for a week’s vacation and though I took several books with me, I barely got any reading in. In paper I’m reading Gabriel’s Ghost by Linnea Sinclair. I’ve been working on this for about 3 weeks. it’s a good book I’ve just been too busy for more then a chapter at a time. After I finish that one it will be one of MANY review books in paper to read, either Dark Desires by Eve Silver or Jackie Ivie’s book that comes out later this year since I’m interviewing her in December. In audio I’ve gotten a little more done. I finished Left Behind Book 5 while I was home and have Book 6 to start. I also “read” two Jude Deveraux abridged books – Temptation and High Tide. both were good though I think I liked Temptation better as it was an historical. I also relistened to Key of Valor by Nora Roberts before I took it back to the library. I’m currently listening to part one of The Fiery…

Well in paper I finished Crimson City by Liz Maverick last night before bed. Next up in paper is an ARC of Gabriel’s Ghost by Linnea Sinclair. In electronic I started reading a WAY advance copy of Of Man and Monsters by Saje Williams. I’m about 6 or 7 chapters in to it so far and it’s been really good so far. I can’t even imagine what surprises Saje has coming yet. I guess after I finish that one I’ll start over again with the review book I was reading that I just couldn’t get in to so had to set aside for awhile. In audio I finished Key of Knowledge by Nora Roberts. I then started Fire Along the Sky by Sara Donati on CD. I’m on disc 9 or 10 of about 19 so far. But I know I’m missing a lot so I’ll have to relisten. This is how pathetic I am… I listened to the first three books in her series on tape, borrowed from the library. They didn’t have Book 4 in audio and when I asked if they could order it, they send they don’t take order requests for audio visual materials. Something about…

a gripe about book covers
Guests / August 6, 2005

Yeah I know we all complain about them sometimes but I had to post about it since one if the books I just recently read that is sitting on the table in front of me, drove me nuts when I read the story. I don’t want to say what book as some of my comments on the cover may give away some spoilers about the story. Anyhow, in this book, a 30’s or so year old man is abducted mistakenly as the kidnappers wanted his brother. The kidnappers brought in the heroine, a psychiatrist that’s best in her field of deprogramming of minds, hypnotherapy and similar stuff. Well on the cover, they have this woman sort of leaning over the man, who is leaning back against the wall and she’s holding up a crystal dangling on a string. The implication being that she is hypnotizing him. Well that is ALL wrong. The man was drugged almost the whole time and in bed lying down, never once until they escape ever referenced as being in anything but pajamas and the cover has him in jeans and a t shirt. And not once in the book did the heroine ever try to…

I never posted last week’s reads. And here it’s almost time to post this week’s!

Well not quite as much reading over vacation as I had hoped, but I did get through several. In paper I finished Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan while I was getting a pedicure though that was actually last Friday (the day I started vacation). I read The Charmed Sphere by Catherine Asaro (long book and probably a big reason I didn’t get as much reading in this week since that one took a while), the Charmed Destinies anthology by Rachel Lee, Mercedes Lackey, Catherine Asaro. I also read the prequel book to the Family Secrets series by Silhouette, Broken Silence. But it was an anthology of stories by Maggie Shayne, Eileen Wilks and Anne Marie Winston. I also read the first book of the Family Secrets series itself, Enemy Mind by Maggie Shayne. And I started the book Crimson City by Liz Maverick as well. Presently I’m about one third of the way through it. (Don’t worry Sara you got dibs after I finish. I also have Book 2 you can borrow after I finish it too.) After I finished The Charmed Sphere, I was able to knock off almost a book a day. In audio I finished Legends…

I realized I haven’t posted in here in a couple weeks. I’m not going to backtrack the past couple weeks but I’m going to try to remember to keep doing this weekly at least. Well my vacation officially started this past Friday and I have great plans for reading this week. I pulled out about 10 books that I’m hoping to get through. So next week my reading list may be large if all goes according to plan. 🙂 I finished Harry Potter 6 on CD this past week and I loved it! I was stunned a few times with the turns events took. And yes she did kill someone else off, but that’s no secret since she’s not been hiding the fact that would happen this book. But I’m not saying anything as to who since I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. All I can say is when the person died I actually yelled “NO you CAN’T do that to us!!” Fortunately no one was here to hear that except my cats and they are used to me bursting out with some reaction to something. LOL I’m still working on Volume 3 of the Legends anthology too….

Well for some reason this thing isn’t allowing me to load all my pictues I wanted to, so there’s just one here. What am I reading this week? Well I finished a couple books this past week. I finished Once Upon a King by Holly Jacobs , though I think that was actually last week. LOL I finished Forget Prince Charming by Natalie Stenzel, which I started last weekend. It was a good story and must have been the one that started the “frog” stories trend since it’s a couple years old. Now that theme is all over the place. LOL It was a cute story about a young woman who catches her boyfriend getting it on with his secretary they day before the couple was supposed to go away for a romantic holiday weekend. So she decides she’s swearing off the “Princes” of the world, the buff, gorgeous, sexy men and is going to focus on the “frogs.” Her plan of action? Head to the library, hobby shops, computer stores etc, to find a nerdy guy to date since she’s convinced they won’t give her the grief her past few princes have. But her plans go awry when she…

What am I reading this week? Well let’s see… In paper I finished Lord of Sin by Madeline Hunter (though I may have finished that last week. I don’t remember now. LOL). I also read an advance copy of Holly Jacobs’ September release Once Upon a King. I also read one of the older Silhouette Bombshells Kiss of the Blue Dragon by Julie Beard. And today I started and almost finished Forget Prince Charming by Natalie Stenzel, another older book, from the early books in the Harlequin Flipside series. I had lots of reading time this week, sitting at the car dealer waiting on my car! In electronic, I’m still on Soul of a Witch by Angela Verdenius. This is my before bed read so I don’t get too far each night since I fall asleep. LOL But I’m about 2/3 of the way in to it and it’s really good. In audio, I’m on the last tape of Left behind Book 3: Nicolae. I’m also still working on Lake in the Clouds by Sara Donati. Next in audio is either Nora Roberts’ Key of Light, or Left Behind Book 4: Soul Harvest. I have both ready to go. Visit…

What I’m Reading

Let’s see, what have I read this past week? I had a really busy week so didn’t get as much reading in as I usually do. In audio, I’m still working on Left Behind book 3: Nicolae in the car. I’m about halfway through it so far. At work, I’m listening to lake in the Clouds by Sara Donati. I had been listening to LitC in the car and N at work but I had to swap them out. There’s something wrong with the tapes for LitC which I borrowed form the library and the sound is messed up, so it can barely be heard, even at full volume. But with earphones I can hear it just fine. Go figure. LOL So now it’s my work book. In paper, I finished up Madeline Hunter’s Lord of Sin this weekend. In spite of the minimal reading time I’ve had lately, I still finished this one up in a week, which was quick considering. I took it with me to the gym for my exercising and read while I biked. LOL This book was great and I can’t wait for the next one. I love how she worked so much into the…

Time for that wonderful weekly update! LOL In paper, I finished Vickie Taylor‘s Carved in Stone this weekend and it was quite good. I like that hers is a very different premise for a paranormal romance. Never before reading this would I have thought of a gargoyle as a sexy hero. LOL I’m looking forward to Book 2 in the series. Also in paper, I started Madeline Hunter‘s Lord of Sin this weekend. So far so good. She always writes a good historical and I love how she’s worked her career as an art instructor into this story. Not exactly the type of artwork you’d expect a professor to cover, but it is definitely obvious she’s knowledgeable about her chosen subject. Which made me think, this isn’t the first one of her books she managed to work art in to somehow. In audio, I finished up book 2 in the Left Behind series: Tribulation Force by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. It’s getting interesting for this series which I finally decided I had to try out after hearing so much about it over the past few years. I also picked up Book 3 from the library: Nicolae and started that…

My weekly update on reading
Guests / June 5, 2005

Well not hardly anything has changed from last week for me. I finished Loki’s Sin by Saje Williams and it was a wonderful book, with lots of twists and turns and surprises. It ended somewhat abruptly, but I expect that is because it was set up for there to be a sequel to it. So I’ll be awaiting that to come out eventually. I’m still working on Dawn on a Distant Shore by Sara Donati in audio and I’m actually getting bored with it. The first one was SO much better I think. I’m also listening to Left Behind Book 2: Tribulation Force by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins in audio at work. In paper I’m still working on Carved in Stone by Vickie Taylor and it is starting to pick up a bit. I also started another eBook, the 6th installment in Janet Lane Walters’ All Our Yesterdays series. This one takes place in Japan. Visit FreshFiction.com to learn more about books and authors.
