1–What is the title of your latest release?
2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A neuroscientist has the opportunity of a lifetime when she’s tasked to lead a prestigious NASA project – and then finds out that her grad school nemesis will be leading the engineering part of the project.
3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I really wanted to write about NASA, because NASA is super cool, and the Johnson Space Center seemed like a really good choice!
4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
I would harass her into being my BFF.
5–What are three words that describe your hero?
Reserved, determined, simpy (that’s a word, right?)
6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?
All sorts of things about expressing cats’ anal glands.
7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
So, my process is usually divided in two parts: first, I write the first few chapters, in which the tone of the book and the main personalities of the characters are set, and I edit them compulsively. I need to be pretty happy about the shape of the first few chapters to be able to continue. Then, once I’m satisfied with the first 15-30%, I move on and draft the rest of the book with reckless abandon, and don’t edit it until I’m done with the entire draft.
8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
I’m currently obsessed with these Blue Bunny Load’d Cones (especially the strawberry and the bunny tracks kind) (This is not a paid partnership, but it could be, dear Blue Bunny, in exchange for a lifetime supply of cones!!!)
9–Describe your writing space/office!
I usually write wherever I can, but my fav spot is definitely the living room couch. Bonus point for cats!
10–Who is an author you admire?
Sooo many! Helen Hoang, Nalini Singh, Sherry Thomas, Christina Lauren, R. Lee Smith, Emily Henry just to name a few!
11–Is there a book that changed your life?
It has to be Pride and Prejudice.
12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)
It was August 2020, so the middle of the pandemic, and we’d been on sub for 84 years (okay, several months). My agent told me she wanted to chat on the phone, and I was like “Either she’s dumping me, or it’s a book deal.” And reader, it was a book deal.
13–What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romance and thrillers.
14–What’s your favorite movie?
Pride and Prejudice 2005 (dir. Joe Wright). Bonus mentions: Promising Young Woman and Arrival.
15–What is your favorite season?
I can’t pick between summer and spring…
16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I don’t, really. My favorite type of birthday in an unacknowledged birthday.
17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
OMG okay, a couple of months ago I discovered K-Drama and it was LIFE CHANGING. I am so full of love for them, they are truly the best storytelling medium I’ve ever experienced. I highly recommend *checks notes* ALL OF THEM, but so far some of my favorites are Crash Landing on You, Descendants of The Sun, Healer, Vincenzo, and Business Proposal!
18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Turkish. No hesitation.
19–What do you do when you have free time?
I watch K-Drama. I also watch K-Drama when I don’t have free time (oops).
20–What can readers expect from you next?
My third book, Love, Theoretically, will be out in summer 2023, and it’s the story of two rival physicists who fall in love. And then I have a couple of other projects that are not exactly secret, just in very preliminary stages, and I’m super excited to talk more about them soon!
