April Asher |A Willful Witch and Her Broody Not-So-One-Night Stand

February 9, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release?

NOT YOUR EX’S HEXES

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

A willful witch & her broody not-so-one-night stand come to terms with the fact that even though love was never part of their arrangement, love—and fate—had other plans.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

New York City is one of my absolute favorite cities, and there’s so much to see and explore…perfect for a witchy family and their supernatural friends.

4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Absolutely! I may have based her off someone I know.

5–What are three words that describe your hero?

Broody. Moody. Drool-worthy.

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

That there really is such a thing as a No Pants Subway Ride in NYC.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

My goal is to always write straight though first, but that never seems to happen, so I go through spurts of both.

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

It’s all about the nachos! But during the holidays, it HAS to be my grandma’s Opera Fudge.

9–Describe your writing space/office!

The left side of my couch, usually with the family fluttering about. I tried the office thing before, but evidently, I need an underground bunker to keep everyone away, so I thought, why bother? lol

10–Who is an author you admire?

I adore Tif Marcelo. I can quite honestly say that if it was not for her, I never would’ve published my first book much less my ninth!

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

I don’t know about CHANGED my life, but the first book I read that literally made me mopey for DAYS if not weeks was the one in Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy Series where…well, if you KNOW you know. But yeah, that one ripped my heart to pieces.

12–Tell us about when you first saw the cover for your book.

I cried. It was so important to me to see my heroines on the cover be big and beautiful, and living their best life.

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

When I’m writing paranormal, I try not to read paranormal, so I dive into contemporary romance and thrillers. When I’m writing contemporary, it’s the reverse.

14–What’s your favorite movie?

That’s like picking a favorite child! But I will say that no matter what I’m doing, or how large my to-do list, if any of the Pitch Perfect movies are on, it’s 100% certainty that I’ll stop what I’m doing to watch it.

15–What is your favorite season?

Definitely fall! I love that time of year when you can go out in a cozy sweater and jeans to take walks and look at the turning colors of the leaves. And apple cider….yum!

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With my family. Birthday girl gets the pick of dinner location and it’s usually my favorite fajita place.

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I’m probably late to the party, but my hubby & I just started binge-watching Only Murders In The Building with Steve Martin, Martin Short, & Selena Gomez and it’s been a LONG TIME since I’ve laughed this much during a TV show.

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Anything that involves fajitas or pasta, lol.

19–What do you do when you have free time?

Sleep…and flip through Instagram and wishing I had enough talent to become a DIY furniture flipper.

20–What can readers expect from you next?

Gear up for Olive’s story because it’s a might bit SPICEY.

And not think about her impulsive one-night stand with Damian Adams, a half-Demon Veterinarian who she can’t get out of her head. Neither of them is looking for a relationship. But when Rose is sentenced to community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary it becomes impossible for them to ignore their sparking attraction. A friends-with-benefits, no feelings, no strings arrangement works perfectly for them both.

He doesn’t approve of Rose becoming a Hunter, but if there’s one thing he’s learned about the stubborn witch, it was telling her not to do something was one sure-fire way to make sure she did.

Working—and sleeping—together awakens feelings Damian never knew he had…and shouldn’t have. Because thanks to his ex’s hex, if he falls in love, he’ll not only lose his heart—but his humanity.

About April Asher

April Asher

April Asher, aka April Hunt, was hooked on romantic stories from the time she first snuck a bodice-ripper romance out from her mom’s bedside table. She now lives out her own happily-ever-after with her college-sweetheart husband, their two children, and a cat who thinks she’s more dog—and human—than feline. By day, April dons dark blue nursing scrubs and drinks way too much caffeine. By night, she still consumes too much caffeine, but she does it with a laptop in hand, and from her favorite side of the couch.

From the far left cushion, April Asher pens laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with a paranormal twist, but when she’s not putting her characters into embarrassing situations with supernatural entities, she also writes high-octane romantic suspense as April Hunt, her thrill-seeking alter ego.
