Fresh FIction Box Not To Miss

Jennifer Snow | A Lighthouse Keeper Finds Loves with His Best Friend

March 28, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release?

SECOND CHANCE ALASKA

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

A lighthouse keeper who lost his family at sea finds a second chance at love and happiness with the local bookstore and museum owner, who happens to be his best friend.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

This is the third full book in the Wild Coast, Alaska series and this series is a spin-off series to my Wild River, Alaska series. But originally, I decided to set these stories in Alaska because of its rugged beauty and mysterious charm. It was the perfect place to set a fictional town famed for its mythology.

4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

She owns a bookstore…so YAY!

5–What are three words that describe your hero?

Dependable, kind-hearted and protector.

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

The research on the history of lighthouse keeping was truly fascinating! I learned so much more than I could ever include in the book, but I’ve definitely added snippets of what I learned. For example, the real reason some lighthouse keepers went ‘mad’. It’s not what you think and you’ll have to read the book to find out.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I write, then edit. I also write out of order and leave a lot of heavy lifting to ‘future’ me, so that’s nice lol.

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I love pizza and my husband makes the best pita pizzas! Delicious and less guilt.

9–Describe your writing space/office!

Before moving to Spain, I had a set office space in my home in Edmonton, but not my ‘office’ is wherever the wind takes me. I write in my house, on my pool deck, on my sun deck, on the beach, at a castle ruin after a hike, on a boat…Have laptop, will travel.

10–Who is an author you admire?

So many! I think any author who finishes a book is worth admiring. Some of my favorites are Debbie Macomber, Emily Henry, and Christina Lauren.

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

Malibu Summer-a Sweet Valley High Special Edition that I read as a tween. It made me want to write romance and live somewhere near the ocean.

12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

My first “call” was from Victoria Curran at Harlequin for the first book in my Brookhollow Series published through the Heartwarming line. Unfortunately, I missed it and the call went to voicemail, but it actually turned out great because I had her message recorded to listen to over and over-proof I wasn’t dreaming lol.

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance and thrillers are tied, and I also love non-fiction-biographies and how-to books.

14–What’s your favorite movie?

While You Were Sleeping

15–What is your favorite season?

I love Christmas, but I don’t love winter, so my favorite season is definitely Spring here in Spain. The weather is hot enough, but the sun isn’t trying to kill me like in August lol.

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I like going out to a nice restaurant with my family and maybe beating them at a game of bowling.

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

The Bear was incredible. Great writing, great acting!

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Mexican food.

19–What do you do when you have free time?

I love hiking to castle ruins and then lounging on the beach. My husband and I also recently got our boating licenses, so I plan to do more boating this year.

20–What can readers expect from you next?

Second Chance Alaska is my last book in this series, but I’m working on several new stand-alone rom-coms that I hope find homes this year. Mainly, I’ve been focusing on screenwriting projects, so I have 8 rom-coms releasing this year on various TV Networks.
