Linda J. Parisi | 20 Questions: DESTINY’S ROGUE

September 15, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release?

DESTINY’S ROGUE

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

High priest Antu Si-Tayat seeks revenge against high priestess Samira Anai Se-Bat by creating an army of rogue vampires. Sam saves Dr. Cordell Stuart, maker of the Nirvana turning vampires into rogues, so he can find a cure. If he does, she’ll save his daughter from certain death.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

It’s the last book of the series and both Sanctuary and The Mansion were mentioned before in Blood Rogue and Honorable Rogue. Also, I’ve been told to write what I know. I used to live in Alpine, NJ.

4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Absolutely!! Sam is cool. She’s a five thousand-year-old vampire who would like to participate in a Girl’s Night Out. I mean, she dances like a crazy woman at weddings. She isn’t afraid to discuss the merits of Chris Hemsworth. And there are quite a few of them lol.

5–What are three words that describe your hero?

Tall, Dark, and — wait a minute. Okay. Father. Scientist. And you guessed it…Handsome.

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

Consequences are real and can be deadly. Every action has a reaction. When Dr. Cordell Stuart created Nirvana, he was trying to save his daughter’s life. Now Nirvana is being used to create rogue vampires, out-of-control vampires who can’t control their thirst. What seems a good decision at the time can become a very bad decision in a hurry.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit as I go then do two or three more edits on the completed draft. I build from the bones up. Dialogue first, characters second, setting third, all within the structure of a plot.

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Guilty Pleasure, eh? Cinnabon. Definitely. Or else Salted Caramel Cheesecake. From Anthony’s of course. I think I’m going with desserts for a reason.

9–Describe your writing space/office!

I just redid my house, so my office is now bright and not nearly as cluttered. I finally put up my pictures on the wall—my mother was on Broadway, so I have one of her with Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady. My father sang in commercials but he also got on stage for various variety shows in the fifties so there are several of those. True story: my father got asked to sing background for Frank Sinatra. He wanted to bring my mother. Sinatra said no. My father turned down the gig.

10–Who is an author you admire?

Oh my! There are so many who have given freely of their time and knowledge. Sherrilyn Kenyon. Maggie Shayne. Diana Gabaldon. Eileen Dryer. Jennifer Greene. Nora. But I’m going to go closer to home and say my good friend NY Times and USA Today Best-Selling author, Caridad Pineiro. She’s never been afraid to give me the truth even when she knew it might hurt.

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

Absolutely. J.R.R Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series.

12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

LOL! I always wanted a call. Email was just as good though. I sold my first book, Noble Blood, and three months later the publisher went out of business. The Wild Rose Press picked it up a few months later. It won a NJRW Golden Leaf Award. So I kind of got two calls.

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance. I tend toward paranormal but all sub-genres work. It depends on the book.

14–What’s your favorite movie?

You don’t ask easy questions, do you? Hard to choose but I’m going to say Spartacus. It simply touches every emotion a movie should. And what’s not to like about a young Kirk Douglass?

15–What is your favorite season?

Summer

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Dinner out mostly. Sometimes roses. Definitely champagne.

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Can I say anything but Outlander?

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Italian (with my last name would you expect any different?)

19–What do you do when you have free time?

Beach, beach, beach. Okay, that leaves winter and yearning for the beach. LOL!

20–What can readers expect from you next?

I’ve just finished my paranormal romance series and I’m working on a Women’s Fiction book. Stay tuned.

Blood Rogue #3

Destiny's Rogue

Vampire queen Samira Anai Se-Bat would do anything for her family—even make promises to a clever scientist.

But the queen wants something in return: a cure for Nirvana, the drug being used to create deadly vampire rogues.

With Samira’s murderous brother, Antu, pitting vampire factions against each other, war is brewing, and Samira is caught between her promise to save Kay and her need to protect her people. But a vision shows both thrones blending into one until they are no more.

If Sam follows the vision and sacrifices herself, will Antu subjugate the world?

In a race against time and destiny, Sam and Cord discover what they must to do. But the cost will be their new found love—and their lives.
