Sometimes on those dating profiles they will refer to things they DON’T want in an ideal match (like trump-supporter need not apply or non-adventurous types not apply) but I don’t think you have to go that far.

Writes flash fiction, which are compressed stories that have been crystallized into nuggets, then strings those nuggets together into an epic mosaic, a story made of tiny stories that tell the surreal tale of the people who are waiting for the Rapture…and what they end up getting.
About:
If I were stranded on a desert island with just two books they would be For Whom the Bell Tolls and One Hundred Years of Solitude. I love pop art, travel, classical music, carnivals, Elvis, full moons, coffee, writing by hand and sunrises on purpose. I believe the job of every artist is to be a kind of visionary—to try and see farther into the future of possibility, to feel into the tiniest nudges of inspiration and be unafraid to follow their ley lines into uncharted, even strange waters.
What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match:

- Smart, sassy, sophisticated, and with a great sense of humor
- Must enjoy reading ‘slowly and deeply’ to discover not only what is on the page but what is left unsaid but percolates in the text nonetheless (no quickies/one night stands here!).,
- Should be enamored or at least curious about flash fiction and the compressed flash forms, willing to challenge their preconceived notions of what that may mean.
- Should love pop culture references and ridiculousness.
- Should be able to laugh at themselves, society and the absurdity that is our reality without missing the deeper truths lurking beneath.

A leader and innovator of the form, Stohlman fragments the long form narrative into the distilled intensity of micro and compressed fiction while still maintaining a larger story arc. Nancy Stohlman has authored four previous books of flash fiction including The Vixen Scream and Other Bible Stories, The Monster Opera, and Madam Velvet’s Cabaret of Oddities, which was a finalist for a 2019 Colorado Book Award. Her flash fictions have been anthologized in the W.W. Norton anthology New Micro: Very Short Stories and in Macmillan’s The Practice of Creative Writing: A Guide for Students.
