Y’sindra: You talkin’ about family?
Lane rolls her eyes Of course not. Childhood. It sucked.
Y’sindra: Right on. Wasn’t great for any of us. Someone tried to kill you, so you might have had it worse.
Lane: Your clan tried to get rid of you. Mae was abandoned.
Y’sindra: You aren’t wrong. We’re a traumatized bunch.
Mae: clears her throat But we’re all alive and happy, now. That’s what matters. Next question.
What was your greatest talent?
Lane: I’m not sur –
Y’sindra: Stabbing. She’s good at stabbing people.
Lane shrugs
Y’sindra: She’s good at shaking the rafters with Teddy, too. You would not believe –
Lane: Y’sindra’s greatest talent is her big mouth. Girl has a razorblade for a tongue.
Y’sindra beams.
Mae laughs and shakes her head.
Lane: Mae is smarter and kinder than anyone I know.
Mae leans to the side and hugs Lane
Y’sindra: I resent that.
Lane stares
Y’sindra: Fineeee. The girl is brilliant.
Significant other?
Y’sindra points at Lane: Her boy toy, Teddy, otherwise known as, the black wolf. You know, big scary pushover.
Lane grins and dusts pretend lint from her shoulders
Y’sindra points at Mae: Vampire. Guy’s a looker, but he’s wound tighter than an ogre’s corset. Do you know how tight those suckers have to be to hold in ogre-sized hooters?
Lane chokes and coughs
Mae: Y’sindra! Have a little tact. We are in an interview. And Vaughn is not uptight.
Biggest challenge in relationships?
Lane: Living with these two. I love my sisters, but they have a lot of “advice.”
Y’sindra: We’re older and wiser.
Lane: You got the first part right.
Mae giggles
Where do you live?
Y’sindra: Vegas, baby!
Do you have any enemies?

Mae: A few.
Y’sindra points at Lane She does a good job killing them.
Lane: You did say stabbing was my biggest talent.

How do you feel about the place where you are now? Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place?
Mae: Our garden is a dream.
Lane: We live in a penthouse. Of course
Y’sindra: The perks. This place has tons of perks.
Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?
Lane looks at Y’sindra: Define children.
Y’sindra sticks out her tongue.
What do you do for a living?
Mae: We own an investigative firm. YML Investigations.
Y’sindra: Lane’s holding down the business right now. Mae and I have our hands full with other business.
Lane smiles: My sisters are taking care of others. They are heroes.
Greatest disappointment?
Lane: I had this idea for a Ho Ho pizza. It wasn’t great.
Y’sindra: Disgusting. I don’t know how marshmallow and chocolate can taste so bad, but it was gross.
Mae: She made it by scraping the toppings off a pepperoni pizza and replaced that with marshmallow fluff and chocolate. Of course it tasted bad.
Greatest source of joy?
Lane: Ho Hos.

Lane: Seriously, Teddy and my sisters. I don’t know what forsaken god was looking out for me, but I lucked out.
Mae smiles and squeezes Lane’s hand
Y’sindra: Aww. Yeah, we got pretty lucky too.
What do you do to entertain yourself or have fun?
Ysindra: We’re big fans of reality TV around here. The trashier the better.
Mae: I enjoy the clubs more than TV night.
Lane: I’m with Y’sindra on this one.
What is your greatest personal failing, in your view?
Lane: You don’t have enough ink to write it all down.
Mae rolls her eyes She’s too hard on herself.
What keeps you awake at night?
Y’sindra: I thought we already established this? Lane and Teddy.
Mae laughs
Lane: Oh gods she buries her face in her hands
What is the most pressing problem you have at the moment?
Lane: Lunch. I’m pretty hungry.
Y’sindra: She ain’t lyin’. Seventy-five percent of her daily decisions revolve around food.
Mae: That isn’t right.
Lane: Thank you, Mae.
Mae: It’s more like eighty perent.
Is there something that you need or want that you don’t have? For yourself or for someone important to you?
Lane looks at her sisters: I think we each have everything we want.
