Candace Camp | 20 Questions: AN AFFAIR AT STONECLIFFE
Author Guest / May 27, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? AN AFFAIR AT STONECLIFFE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? In AN AFFAIR AT STONECLIFFE, a fast-paced story of romance and intrigue, Noelle, a young widow, must turn to her greatest enemy for help. Carlisle Thorne can protect her from danger, but can she protect her heart from him? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? All my Regencies are set in England. However, in this story, I added a bit of Paris and the Continent in the opening because her dead husband was an artist. In England, the gorgeous country estate where they spend much of their time is reasonably close to London so readers get to experience a little of the social whirl the city was for the ton. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! She’s determined, brave, and loving—definitely the kind of person I’d want to have on my side. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Loyal, proud, strong 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned how very much British law ignored women’s rights at this time. I knew everything a woman…

When Alaskan business mogul Parker Hall comes looking for investment opportunities in the small town of Paradise, Alaska, he runs afoul of local bush pilot Hailey Barosse. Parker’s suave sophisticated takeover approach reminds Hailey of her wealthy cutthroat family back home. To save Paradise businesses, she sets out to thwart his plans. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? STRANGERS IN PARADISE is Book #3 in the Paradise, Alaska series. I moved to the far north from a major metropolitan center, and I’m fascinated by the contrast in the two lifestyles. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Hailey is smart and feisty with a great sense of humor. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Hardworking, protective, loyal. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I’m married to a northern bush pilot, and he answered a whole lot of technical questions about bush flying. I only used about a quarter of what I learned. But I still ended up with so much detail that my editor asked me to…

Susan Speranza | Exclusive Excerpt: ICE OUT
Author Spotlight , Excerpt / May 27, 2022

Francesca watched in horror as her husband ran from the lake, from her, and from Addie, disappearing into the advancing shadows. For a moment, she comforted herself with the belief that he was going for help, but the moment faded as quickly as it had come. Hope dissolved into panic and despair. In her heart, she understood the truth. He had answered her tearful pleas with nothing but a hurtful, intractable silence. A silence that flew over the lake toward her, landing like a purposeful blow, striking her to her core. A silence that inflicted a mortal wound from which she knew she would never recover. He hadn’t once looked back at her or the lake. He just ran. Away from her and Addie, leaving them both to die. She was overcome with sorrow and a crushing fear. She wanted to find Addie, to help her and to save her, but she felt her physical self weakening. The more exhausted she grew and the more fearful, the more she thrashed about in the water. — “No, no,” Dominic cautions as he tries to stop her. “Don’t struggle so much. You need to just relax. Relax.” “It’s too deep,” she frets as Dominic puts his arms around her and guides his six-year-old daughter to the middle…
