1–What is the title of your latest release?
AN ENCHANTED KNIGHT: Book One of The Cursed Kingdom series
2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
A woman with the power to guide spirits. A cursed knight trapped in time. Can Gwen break the enchantment that binds Tristan—or will love trap them both forever?
3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
This was an easy choice. My favorite country is Scotland and most of my historical romances take place there, so choosing the country was easy. The second thing was picking a castle that would work for the story. One that is away from the city in a small town, so it wouldn’t be affected by the changes of time. I chose a real place, Dunimarle Castle in Culross, Scotland.
4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Yes! I would love to talk to someone who lived in 1600s Scotland. It would be amazing to hear how life was back then and then use it for my writing. And well, he’s also a hunk… there’s that.
5–What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Strong, Leader, Handsome
6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned a great deal about the area of Culross in Scotland. I also learned a bit about world building, which is not my strength.
7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I write and edit afterwards. I am a dirty writer, so have to do lots of cleanup, which is aggravating.
8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Sweet is Biscotti dunked in coffee with sweetened creamer. Savory is chicken strips tossed in buffalo garlic from Zaxby’s… I’m getting hungry.
9–Describe your writing space/office!
I converted a bedroom into my office. It has three gray walls and one pink wall. My furniture is Ikea, all white. It’s a mixture of cute (tons of pink stuff) and messy, boxes on the floor.
10–Who is an author you admire?
Wow this is a hard question. I read mystery suspense and action thrillers, so I read a lot of Frieda McFadden, Douglas Pratt and Karen Slaughter
11–Is there a book that changed your life?
When I was about 10, I read “Island of the Blue Dolphins” by Scott O’Dell. This story lit a fuse in me, and I became an avid reader after that book.
12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
My first bestseller “Where the Four Winds Collide” was an amazing feeling. The publisher was thrilled when it became their best seller two months in a row.
13–What’s your favorite genre to read?
Mystery Suspense and Action Thrillers. When I’m in a mood for something softer, I read historical romance.
14–What’s your favorite movie?
Love, Actually. I watch it several times a year.
15–What is your favorite season?
Fall has always been my favorite. A reprieve from the summer heat and not as cold as winter, plus less bugs!
16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
With my daughters and friends having a fun dinner out.
17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I am addicted to reality tv, my favorite show is the Great British Bake Off. I also really enjoyed Alex Cross on Prime, it’s amazing!
18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Food from my birth country, authentic Mexican cuisine of course.
19–What do you do when you have free time?
I love exploring small towns, so I take day trips. Other than that, I read, watch television and play with my paper planners and journals.
20–What can readers expect from you next?
The sequel to AN ENCHANTED KNIGHT is titled A BEAUTIFUL KNIGHT. It’s a great story!
