July has arrived and the humidity is high here in Central Pennsylvania! My curly hair is having quite the week, and I think it has a mind of its own, but it does at least behave for my wonderful hairstylist, Brandi! Woohoo!
And how does that lead into my list for this month? Well, Brandi just came back from a lovely beach vacation, so I was thinking let’s look at some fabulous beach setting reads!

First, we have A CALL FOR KELP: A Beachfront Cozy Mystery (Seaside Café Mysteries, 4) by Bree Baker. This is an absolutely delightful book set at a seaside café. I adore the cast and the wonderful way the story is told. Total nailbiter and was not prepared for the ending but it was wonderful!

Second up, we have BEACHES, BUNGALOWS, & BURGLARIES (A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series Book 1) by Tonya Kappes. I just love everything that Tonya Kappes writes so it’s no surprise that this grabbed me and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. The quirky characters and southern humor are right up my alley. Try it! You’ll love it!

And last but certainly not least, we have SUMMER, SCALLOPS, AND MURDER: Shipwreck Cafe Mysteries #5 by Donna Clancy! This book just came out last month and it was so much fun to read poolside (since I don’t live near the beach). But I really enjoyed being on the sand in my imagination and Donna did a great job bringing the setting alive while keeping me on the edge of my lounger waiting to see whodunnit!
Under my pen name Gabby Allan, I do have a three-book series set on Catalina Island, if you’re interested in checking out what it’s like to captain a glass-bottomed boat, sell treasure maps in a gift shop, and solve murders on the super small island while tearing it up in a golf cart. Check out Whit and Whiskers Mysteries if you have some time and the space to laugh at the shenanigans and mischief of Whitney Dagner and her cat Whiskers!
And that’s it for me for the month of July! I’m going to go slather myself with some high-octane SPF, grab a book, see if my hair will fit under a hat, and stake out my territory to get lost in a story while hoping I don’t end up crispy.
About Misty Simon

Misty Simon always wanted to be a storyteller – preferably behind a Muppet. Animal was number one, followed closely by Sherlock Hemlock. Since that dream didn’t come true, she began writing stories to share her world with readers, one laugh at a time.
Touching people’s hearts and funny bones are two of her favorite things, and she hopes everyone at least snickers in the right places when reading her books. She lives with her husband in Central Pennsylvania where she is hard at work on her next novel or three. She loves to hear from readers so drop her a line via email.
