Tanya Anne Crosby | A hot Fae gets a second chance with the love of his life

September 3, 2025

What is the title of your latest release?
A CROWN SO CURSED

What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Hot Fae gets a second chance with the love of his life—real-life historical heroine, Gwendolyn of Cornwall.

How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
This was easy! The entire series took place in ancient Britain, and I was a little constrained in my storytelling to make sure that the story held true to the real-life Gwendolyn. Even though it’s historical fantasy, with hot Faeries, trolls, and demigods, I couldn’t veer too far from historical accounts of Gwendolyn’s life.

Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Oh, yeah! He’s a hero after my own heart, and she’s a bad-ass woman.

What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Some of this story is told from the hero’s perspective, and it’s quite dark. Even though the majority of the POV is Gwendolyn’s, I really feel Malik is the main protagonist here, and so I’ll focus on him. Three words? Jaded, dark, and loyal.

What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I adore giving free rein to my imagination, and really enjoyed creating this world. I’m really looking forward to my next series for that reason.

Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
Yep. I hate that I do that, but I’m a serial editor. I tend to go back and read the last chapter before moving forward and a lot of days I don’t move forward, but backwards.

What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Sushi. Hands down.

Describe your writing space/office!
I wish I had more seclusion in my office space, but that’s OK. I love the view from my desk, and really love having my pets at my feet.

Who is an author you admire?
This is a tough question to ask any author, but hands down, it’s my late friend Pamela Morsi. Not only was she a font of positivity, but she was a tremendous force on this planet, and one of the most honest, beautiful storytellers I have ever known. (Miss you, Pammie!)

Is there a book that changed your life?
Two of them: Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch and Please Understand Me by David Keirsey

Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
This was so long ago for me (1989), but I remember being so happy. And, really, quite shocked. I think I am still shocked and happily surprised with every new book and every great review.

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Hands down, fantasy/romantasy.

What’s your favorite movie?
Lord of the Rings

What is your favorite season?
Summer—we get such a short one in the north. I appreciate every day of sunshine.

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Surrounded by family, and it just doesn’t matter to me what else is happening so long as that’s the case. My family is my gift.

What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
My favorite anything is always the one I’m writing/watching/reading right now! At the moment, I’m thoroughly enjoying Foundation. And I’m loving Colleen Gleason’s Lady Darling Inquires After a Killer… published by OHB.

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Anything Asian, and as a close second, Spanish.

What do you do when you have free time?
My husband and I are intrepid boaters. Summers are short here, so we love spending as much as possible on the water—when I’m not working.

What can readers expect from you next?
Oh, man! I am SO excited to say that I’m working on two different projects. The first one is a dark Women’s Fiction title called SHADOWS & LIGHT. The theme is gaslighting—who are you if all you ever knew about yourself is a lie? The second project is no longer super secret, but I’m still not quite ready to talk about it. It’s on the docket to publish next summer, and I can tell you it’s a romantasy series that’s entirely new, fresh and like nothing I’ve ever read. I can’t wait! The series is called The Sovereign Dominion and book one is titled A RUIN OF SALT & BONES.
