The Domingo the Bounty Hunter series consists of DANGER NO PROBLEM (book 1) and SUNDAY OR THE HIGHWAY (book 2). The series follows a Filipino American bounty hunter named Domingo who catches the most elusive quarries and discovers explosive secrets along the way.

In both books, certain songs are mentioned to either highlight the quality of a character or reinforce the mood of the scene.

DANGER NO PROBLEM, Book 1:

“Love of My Life” by Queen.
On the night Domingo the Bounty Hunter first meets Monica Reed, a biracial undocumented Filipino woman, “Love of My Life” is playing on the radio during their drive from Pittsburgh to New York City. It’s a sign of things to come. Monica turns out to be the only quarry that ever eludes Domingo. She’s bound to have a huge impact on his life.

“Easy” by Lionel Richie.
Domingo Americanized his name to Sunday when he became a U.S. citizen. Lionel Richie’s song, “Easy,” which famously mentions an easy Sunday morning, influenced Domingo’s decision. He wants Americans to remember him and his name. It’s his way of adapting and assimilating, which says a lot about his character.

“No Regrets” by Jon Bon Jovi.
In the book’s last chapter, Domingo tries to cheer up his client, Mary Reed, who’s dying of cancer, by singing a Jon Bon Jovi song. He doesn’t mention the title of the song, but he says it’s about the futility of holding on to regrets. Any Bon Jovi fan would be able to guess that Domingo is referring to the 2002 song “No Regrets.”

SUNDAY OR THE HIGHWAY, Book 2:

In Sunday or the Highway, a beautiful, young heiress named Tessa Woodridge hires Domingo the Bounty Hunter to look for the undocumented parents of Julian Alondra, the love of her life. Julian saved Tessa’s life when she was eight and he was fourteen. Tessa believes they are destined to be together, but what Domingo discovers about Julian’s identity could get him and Tessa killed.

“One Dance” by Drake
Domingo first puts Julian under surveillance at a party at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Julian is there with Tessa, who hired Domingo. A Drake song is playing. Although I didn’t specify the title of the song in the book, I was thinking of “One Dance,” which sets up the scene by showing just how crazy Tessa is for Julian.

“Bad at Love” by Halsey
At the party, Domingo simply observes Tessa and Julian. Their body language, including the way they dance to a sexy song by Halsey, tells him a lot about the nature of the couple’s relationship. The song’s title isn’t specified in the book, but I was listening to “Bad Love” when I was writing the chapter.

SUNDAY OR THE HIGHWAY by Cindy Fazzi

Domingo the Bounty Hunter

From the author of Danger No Problem comes the thrilling second installment of Domingo the Bounty Hunter, where playing matchmaker for an heiress proves a lot more deadly than Cupid’s arrow.

As a bounty hunter specializing in immigrants who do their status dirty, Domingo has had his fair share of dicey jobs. From traffickers peddling drugs, guns, and people to murderers and other fugitives, Domingo loves nothing more than putting the bad guys away. But his life’s not exactly fun and games.

A seemingly easy case involving a lovestruck young heiress turns out to be anything but. Tessa Woodridge, a fast-food chain CEO, hires Domingo to find the undocumented parents of Julian Alondra, the love of her life. When Tessa was eight, fourteen-year-old Julian saved her life. She always believed they were destined to be together.

It should be a cakewalk compared to Domingo’s other cases. But he soon discovers it’s not all heart eyes and sweet nothings between these two. In his line of work, you learn to prepare for everything you never saw coming—and Domingo can see it from a mile away.

DANGER NO PROBLEM by Cindy Fazzi

Domingo the Bounty Hunter

Acclaimed author Cindy Fazzi takes readers on an action-packed ride full of wit and grit, as an immigrant turned recovery agent tracks down his most elusive assignment…and learns her explosive secret.

Domingo’s latest job is to bring in Monica Reed. Again. In all his years as a bounty hunter, Monica’s the only target who’s ever given him the slip—and the only one he’s ever let go.

Domingo takes his work seriously, rooting out fugitives who have no regard for the law. Added bonus: it gives him plenty of fodder for the book he’s writing on the side.

As Domingo works to flush out Monica for the third time, he uncovers more layers to her story. Dark secrets, hidden sacrifices, and shocking discoveries point to a dangerous truth she’ll risk her life to expose. Now Domingo must decide which side he’s actually on.

Drawing on the author’s own experience as an immigrant, Danger No Problem is an action-packed, humor-laden look at the pursuit of dreams and the desire for belonging.

Revised edition: Previously published as Multo, this edition of Danger No Problem includes editorial revisions.
