Misty Simon | Hearts and candies and cupids mixed with a little murder and mayhem

February 24, 2026

Happy month of Love! With all the hearts and candies and cupids shooting arrows, I’m still here for a little murder and mayhem in the mix! So let’s jump into a few of the stories that might warm your heart while also handing you the justice you want and the laughs you need.

First up we have HEARTSTRINGS AND HIJINKS: A Delightful Valentine’s Day Cozy Mystery Caper (A Hattie and Moose Cozy Mystery) by Greta Sinclair. This delightful book just dropped a few days ago and it was a blast to read – quick, fun, and engrossing. The music, the pets, the love interest! I laughed and gasped and was thoroughly entertained with the way the twists and turns just kept on coming!

Next, we have BE MY VALENCRIME (The Juniper Junction Cozy Holiday Mystery Series) by Amy M. Reade. This one is a little older but I’m a sucker for going back and reading stories that I loved even if I already know who the culprit is. Juniper Junction is a great setting, and the characters are so much fun to reconnect with. Lilly is a wonderful, motherly sleuth who is all about digging in and finding out what’s going on and I am here for it. She faces real life stuff head on and feels like someone you’d want to have coffee with and that’s a high compliment in my world!

Last, but certainly not least, here’s a quick read for you that will keep you flipping those pages! BREAKUPS AND BODIES: A Valentine’s Day Cozy Mystery by Patti Benning. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, our sleuth is feeling pretty good but that all comes crashing to a halt when her sweetheart breaks things off with no notice and no explanation. I literally read this novella in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. A sweet little treat for those of us with a mystery-loving heart!

And that’s it for me for this month of February! I had an absolutely lovely time at a Galentine’s Day event at a local bookstore last weekend, complete with jammies, pizza, reading, and book talk with over thirty readers and friends. It filled my heart with glee. Highly recommend, 10 out of 10 stars. I hope that however you spend your Valentine’s Day that you do it with love and appreciation and hopefully a great book or three! Until next time!

About Misty Simon

Misty Simon

Misty Simon always wanted to be a storyteller – preferably behind a Muppet. Animal was number one, followed closely by Sherlock Hemlock. Since that dream didn’t come true, she began writing stories to share her world with readers, one laugh at a time.

Touching people’s hearts and funny bones are two of her favorite things, and she hopes everyone at least snickers in the right places when reading her books. She lives with her husband in Central Pennsylvania where she is hard at work on her next novel or three. She loves to hear from readers so drop her a line via email.
