How would you describe your family or your childhood?
Could be better, could be worse. My parents were great when they paid attention to me, but most of that attention went to my sickly sister. I can’t blame them, though, when she’s been the greatest gift of my life. Well, the food was always good! I do miss my mom’s mofongo.
What was your greatest talent?
Taking care of dogs. I think they sense how much I love them because they always get attached to me, and I get even more attached to them.
Significant other?
In my dreams, Michael B. Jordan, in reality, nobody.
Biggest challenge in relationships?
Keeping them.
Where do you live?
New York
Do you have any enemies?
My old boss – who is lucky my aim is slightly off or else that paperweight would have taken out his eyeball. And everyone who has ever wronged my sister. Or mistreated a dog.
How do you feel about the place where you are now? Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place?
I do love the sound of the faucet always leaking. The landlord never fixes it so maybe I’ve convinced myself it’s a lullaby. I do get the best sleep when it starts. I’m not fussy, as long as the roof is somewhat above my head, and I have wi-fi.
Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?
I lost my dog a couple years ago, haven’t been able to get another one since, but since I’m always volunteering at the dog shelter, I get my fill plenty.
What do you do for a living?
Ruin weddings. Temporarily. And only when it’s for the best. I’m not a monster.
Greatest disappointment?
I’d need a lot more time to list those out.
Greatest source of joy?
My sister, dogs, and money in the bank.
What is the most pressing problem you have at the moment?
It would be filling that bank account that would bring me joy if it had anything in it.
Is there something that you need or want that you don’t have? For yourself or for someone important to you?
Stability. Now that my sister is taken care of, I need to figure out my own life.
Why don’t you have it? What is in the way?
Bad decisions and even worse luck… but I just met this guy who offered me the job of a lifetime. Things are finally looking up, you know, when I can stop looking at him.
