Bury a Friend – Billie Eilish
It’s a very macabre song with dark themes and elements, but since I listen to music as a progression with the story, this song truly became an overall theme song for Evania James and the cast of characters. THE RESSURECTION OF EVANIA JAMES was written to be layered with varying elements of deadly and dark secrets that families hide. They try to bury them, bury each other, and bury the past, but it also rises from the grave to haunt us. It’s just a matter of time . . .
No Time to Die – Billie Eilish
This is truly a song that resonated with me as I considered the story from the viewpoint of Evania as she considers her father, the protective love that should have been there for his daughter, and the betrayal of a father whose ambitions and passions have created Evania into a commodity and eventually a problem that needs to be removed. It’s also a song that travels into the present time and Luke is now carrying the weight of the James family threads of death to love, to family, and to peace. Is there a way out of the grave?
Whispers in the Dark – Skillet
There’s a point in a story—a family saga—when someone decides to fight. To fight the lies, the secrets, the travesties, and to claw their way out of the darkness. I really felt this song became Eloise’s war song as she determined to unravel and reveal what was always meant to remain hidden. In the present day, this song was a quieter song playing the background of every scene with Grandpa Don. Alzheimer’s has stolen much of his power, his patriarchy is threatened, but his spirit to fight for his granddaughter and to make sure his family is taken care of his in absence is juxtaposed to the terrors hiding in the walls of a different family. The James family, and Evania James, who is still trying to be heard.
Scars – I Am They
What happens when our stories begin to unfold? When we begin to understand the pain, the darkness, the wrongs, and the bitter can still serve a purpose? Is there light at the end of horror, and can we walk out of abuse, pain, injustice, and betrayal and find hope? Can we actually be thankful for the scars when our walls begin to speak?
This World Is Not My Home – Cory Asbury
As the story wraps to an end, as with our lives, more often than not, there aren’t happily-ever-afters, there are just glimpses-of-happy-moments. Because life was never meant to be the end, but only the beginning.

But unraveling a tapestry of underground resurrectionists proves daunting, and the dead are not the only ones in danger.
