Allie Samberts | A risky romance

August 26, 2026

What is the title of your latest release?
NOT ON THE SAME PAGE

What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
He’s an editor who just got a huge promotion, and he needs a guaranteed bestseller as his next lead title. She’s a literary agent with a talent for spotting the next big book. The problem? They’ve been having an on-and-off, no-strings-attached relationship that could risk their jobs and their reputations if anyone found out.

How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
The book takes place in Chicago because I’m from the suburbs. I’ve always been enamored with the city. Not on the Same Page especially captures the long, summer days and steamy summer nights in the city that holds my heart.

Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Absolutely. Trina and I have so much in common – mostly our dark humor and cutting sarcasm, but also our gooey, soft hearts. I love her so much. I want to be her!

What are three words that describe your hero?
Solid, quiet, intense

What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned that sometimes, writing a great book takes sheer grit and perseverance. I wrote this book during one of the most difficult times of my life, and it turned out perfect, just because I was willing to keep showing up for the book and for myself.

Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
It depends! Sometimes I’ll edit as I draft so I can feel productive when the words aren’t coming, but usually I try to just get the words on the page and don’t look back.

What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Pizza. I’ll eat any kind of pizza, any time of day.

Describe your writing space/office!
I just redid my office! I have a desk with an extra monitor, a pink couch, a pink and teal rug, and brand-new, hand-painted (by me) teal bookshelves. It’s the absolute perfect space and I never want to leave.

Who is an author you admire?
I admire everyone who takes the leap to put their heart on the page! But if I had to pick one, I’d say Emily Henry.

Is there a book that changed your life?
FAHRENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury. I always knew I wanted to be a writer, but that book made me want to be an English teacher. Now I’m both!

Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published). Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
I started indie publishing in 2023. The time felt right for my first book, and I loved having creative control. The first book in the Strong Enough series (NOT ON THE SAME PAGE) was originally self-published, too, but Page & Vine saw something in it they liked and bought the rights along with two more books in the series. That was an exciting time, especially because they loved the story so much. I’ve been so fortunate to work with them on this series!

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Romance or romantasy

What’s your favorite movie?
Romancing the Stone – an absolute 80s classic

What is your favorite season?
Fall

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
This year, we were in Disney World, and we went to the Be Our Guest restaurant for my birthday, so that was pretty cool.

What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
Schitt’s Creek is my happy place

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Is pizza a type of cuisine? If not, then probably Italian.

What do you do when you have free time?
Mostly, I spend time with my kids, but I also knit and run

What can readers expect from you next?
Book 3 in the Strong Enough series releases November 10! It’s an age gap, travel romance full of found family and laugh-out-loud side characters.

They agreed on no strings. But their hearts keep landing on the same page.

A year ago, literary agent Trina McBryde and editor Casey Endersen ended their no‑strings arrangement. It was perfect for two people who didn’t want a relationship. But what started as a way to blow off steam and have a little fun almost put their careers at stake, along with their feelings for each other.

When an important publishing conference brings them together again, the desire they tried to deny is back, and stronger than ever. But the real challenge comes afterward—Casey needs Trina to sign a promising new writer, which means that after a year of avoiding each other, they’ll be forced to work together again. Late‑night calls, whispered strategy sessions, and stolen glances make every professional interaction dangerously personal.

Every secret meeting carries the risk of exposure. If anyone finds out, they could lose more than just their jobs—they could lose their reputations.

But Casey has already fallen…again. And Trina is running out of ways to resist.

As professional boundaries blur, they’ll have to decide if being on the same page means following the rules—or finally writing their own.
