Kathleen Fuller | Conversations in Character | TWO TO TANGO
Author Guest / July 11, 2023

Book Title: TWO TO TANGO Character Name: Olivia Farnsworth   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Unique. My parents are both academics, and they weren’t the touchy feely type, my mother especially. Think Beverly Hofstadter from The Big Bang Theory. She and my dad even did a Punnet square during one of their dates to find out if they were genetically compatible! But I was also raised by my Great Aunt Bea, who never had children of my own. She was always there with hugs, advice, and of course, lots of delicious southern cooking.   What was your greatest talent? Organizing. I’m the queen of schedules and organization. It’s partly why I wanted to be a librarian—I’m obsessed with the Dewey Decimal System.   Significant other? Well, I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s this pediatrician I’m fond of…   Biggest challenge in relationships? Time and schedules. Especially if your significant other is a doctor.   Where do you live? Maple Falls, Arkansas. It’s the Mayberry of Garland County.   Do you have any enemies? Probably. I’m a logical person and while I try to be kind to everyone and have integrity, but I can’t please…

Jessica Joyce | A Road Trip with a Mystery Man
Author Guest / July 11, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? YOU, WITH A VIEW 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A grieving woman seeks answers about her late grandmother’s long-lost, secret ex-fiancé via TikTok, and when the video goes viral, finds herself on a road trip with the mystery man—and his grandson, who happens to be her old high school rival. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I always knew I wanted my main character Noelle’s home base to be in the Bay Area, because that’s the place I know and live in and love! But since You, with a View is also a road trip romance, I thought about some of my favorite places in the western United States, places I’ve visited often or have emotional attachments to, because those elements tend to make my writing more immersive. I knew I wanted to include Yosemite National Park, because it’s a frequent destination for my family and one of my favorite places on Earth, and also that I wanted to include a stop at Zion National Park, because I grew up going there. Once I had those two decided, I sketched out other destinations…

Radhika Sanghani | Family Surprises and Complications
Author Guest / July 11, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? I WISH WE WEREN’T RELATED 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Reeva thought her dad died when she was little. Especially when she finds out she has to spent 14 days at his house, praying for a man she never knew, along with the two sisters she no longer speaks to… 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted to set my book in London where I’m from, because it fits for Reeva – a high-powered lawyer. But she also spends a lot of time at her dad’s house in Leicester, a city a couple of hours away that has a strong Indian community, because I spent a lot of time there as a child and have always been fascinated by it. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Yes! I would love to hang out in her flat with her and her cat. 5–What are three words that describe…

May Cobb | A Woman Investigates Her Mother’s Death
Author Guest / July 10, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? A LIKEABLE WOMAN 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Kira, a 30-something woman who fled her small, East Texas hometown decades earlier in the wake of her provocative mother’s mysterious death returns to attend her frenemy’s vow renewal party and as she investigates her mother’s death, danger starts to lurk all around her. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? All my thrillers (so far) are set in the lush, eerie Piney Woods of Deep East Texas, a place at once both haunting and beautiful. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? I would totally hang out with Kira and we would have so much in common! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Artistic, Shrewd, Frozen by grief 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I challenged myself to write a closed-circle mystery—something I’d never done!—and had great fun doing it! 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Jennifer Vido | Jen’s Jewels Interview: THE SUMMER OF SONGBIRDS by Kristy Woodson Harvey
Author Guest , Jen's Jewels / July 7, 2023

Jennifer Vido: What inspired your new release, THE SUMMER OF SONGBIRDS? Kristy Woodson Harvey: For starters, I started writing this book during the pandemic, and I just wanted to go somewhere fun! And outside! So I knew I was going to write a book about summer camp. But my family actually ended up going to a family camp during that time, and, while we were there reminiscing with friends about our own camp experiences, this story really started to take shape.   Jen: Who is June Moore, and what’s her connection to Camp Holly Springs? Kristy: June Moore is the owner and director of Camp Holly Springs—and protagonist Daphne’s aunt. Daphne and June have been through a lot together, namely losing Daphne’s mom and June’s sister. Throughout the course of this book, Daphne really begins to realize how Camp Holly Springs brought her back to life after that loss. And June begins to realize that maybe she’s used camp as an excuse to hide from the real world. But this place is incredibly special to both women, and they have a hugely vested interest in saving it.   Jen: Who are Daphne, Lanier, and Mary Stuart, and how are they…

Jack Campbell | Conversations in Character | IMPLACABLE
Author Guest / July 6, 2023

Book Title: IMPLACABLE Character Name: Admiral John Geary (also known as Black Jack, a nickname I’ve never liked but one I’m stuck with)   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Normal, I guess.  My ancestors were among the first colonists on our world, and played important roles back then in ensuring Glenlyon remained free, but we were never taught to see ourselves as special the way some First Families do on a lot of worlds.  We were told and shown the importance of service to others, but that plays out in different ways in my family.  Some of us (at least one in every generation) feels the call of space, the need to sail among the stars and see other worlds.  That was my mother.  That was me.  My brother Michael never understood that, though, and was happy to remain on Glenlyon for most of his life.  My father was like that, too.  Now, after I was frozen in survival sleep for a century, they’re all gone.  My grandniece Jane and grandnephew Michael are all that’s left of my family, the rest taken by time or the war.  Mostly by the war, because Gearys were expected to…

Mindi Briar | A Golden-retriever Knight and a Disgraced Nun Catch Feelings and Solve a Murder
Author Guest / July 6, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE INVISIBLE BRIGHT 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A golden-retriever Knight and a disgraced nun fight romantic feelings as they solve a murder on their utopian planet, where violence is supposed to be impossible. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The Halcyon Universe is a fantasy-flavored sci-fi world that I’ve been building for a long time. Halcyon is a seemingly utopian planet where the peace is enforced by the alien “dragons” who claim it as their ancestral home. I’m fascinated by the idea of utopias and solarpunk-esque futures. No matter how perfect a society is, there’s always going to be someone for whom it’s a dystopia, and that was something I wanted to explore with this book. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Probably! In the book, Miri goes through a lot of things I’ve experienced in my past. Becoming disillusioned with a religion she once placed her trust in. Losing a first love in a painful way. Finding happiness and fulfillment in a place she never expected. I think we’d have a lot to talk about. Leo and…
