Libby Hubscher | New Girl mixed with Evvie Drake Starts Over
Author Guest / June 20, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? PLAY FOR ME 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? It’s basically the show New Girl mixed with Evvie Drake Starts Over. A sunny sporty former Red Sox athletic trainer ends up working at an arts-focused New England boarding school and living with three guys in a faculty apartment, including a grumpy music teacher who she vows to win over. When she promises to help him play again, sparks fly, and he goes from wanting her gone to wanting her heart. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I knew I wanted to set it at a boarding school in New England – New Hampshire was the logical choice for me since I was a day student at a boarding school there from grades 10-12. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. I’d 100% go for chicken finger grinders, a Red Sox game, or a snowball fight with Sophie. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Broody, sarcastic, secretly sweet 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned I’ve been throwing a baseball wrong my entire life. 7–Do you…

Rektok Ross | Mean Girls Meets Scream in This Psychological Thriller
Author Guest / June 19, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? SUMMER RENTAL 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Mean Girls meets Scream in this heart-pounding, suspenseful psychological thriller about a group of friends stranded on an island with a serial killer on the loose. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I have in mind four planned books in this thriller series – while they are all standalones, they occur in the same metaverse. The first book, Ski Weekend, took place in the mountains in winter on the west coast. I knew I wanted the follow-up thriller, Summer Rental, to have a completely different feel setting/atmosphere-wise so I set it in the summer on an island on the other side of the United States. I also grew up in Florida, so there’s that! 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Maybe not in the beginning of the book but definitely by the end! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Smart. Quiet. Surprising. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That some houses in Florida really do have basements. I grew up in South Florida and always thought no houses…

Hannah Mary McKinnon | A Lost Forgiveness List Has Things Taking a Sinister Turn
Author Guest / June 19, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE REVENGE LIST 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When Frankie Morgan loses her “forgiveness list” – the names of people who have wronged her in the past, and whom she could work to forgive – she thinks nothing of it. But as the people on Frankie’s list have increasingly serious accidents, Frankie knows she’s in trouble. She wrote her own name on the list because her past self is the one person she’ll never forgive, and if she doesn’t find out who’s behind the attacks, she might be next. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I often set my books in Portland, Maine, because we drive through it when visiting family in New Brunswick. It’s beautiful! 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Yes! I think it would be very interesting to spend the day with Frankie (providing I don’t make her angry). 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Protective, fierce, quick-tempered. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That anger is a valid emotion, just like any other. It’s not the anger, but how we handle…

James Wolff | Exclusive Excerpt: THE MAN IN THE CORDUROY SUIT
Author Guest , Excerpt / June 19, 2023

CHAPTER ONE   Monday, 0900   It might come as a disappointment to learn that the natural habitat of the intelligence officer is not the shooting range or the gym mat, the departure lounge of a hot and dusty airport, the safe house or the interrogation cell. It’s not halfway up a ladder aimed at the draughty rear window of a foreign embassy. It’s not even the street, the simple street – narrow, damply cobbled, thick with London fog and Russian menace. No, the natural habitat of the intelligence officer is the meeting room. Spies like to talk. “You will have heard of a section called Gatekeeping,” says Charles Remnant. “In simple terms, we investigate the insider threat – the threat posed by our own members of staff, who may have been recruited by hostile foreign powers. What you will not have heard of, however, unless matters have really got out of hand, is the secret cadre of officers we refer to as Gatekeepers.” In this case, not just any meeting room, but one at the top of the building, one at the dead end of a corridor otherwise used to store broken filing cabinets and unused safes. The paint…

Book Title: SCENT OF A GARDEN Character Name: The Nanis of Napa (during one of their outings)   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Ming Na: We’re grandmothers, how much time do you have? Because I have stories. But it’ll cost you a glass, no a bottle of wine. Mimi: I have a lovely family. My childhood, well, I got married young and came to America as a bride. It was difficult, but worth it. Leela: That was over sixty years ago now. We didn’t know the language. I had to set up a house for my husband then our son. It was a lot of work. Mimi: That’s why now it’s our time to drink wine, sunbathe topless. Leela: Shhh….she’s a little too free with her words.   What was your greatest talent? Bonnie: I can beat Greg Norman on the golf course all day any day. Leela: I can grow anything plants, flowers, herbs, vegetables. Ming Na: Sneaking in snacks wherever it’s not allowed.   Where do you live? All: We’re the Nani’s of Napa!   Do you have any enemies? Bonnie: We’re loved by all and feared by many. Leela: The colonizers will always…

E.L. Deards | Inspired by the Life of Wilfred Owen
Author Guest / June 16, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? WILD WITH ALL REGRETS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Delving through years of a troubled past, Lucas must face that he’s suppressed his truest self from the one he loves most in the world. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I was inspired by the life of Wilfred Owen, and wanted to use WWI as the time period to honor his life.  The novel is set in Ireland because of the stronger ties to Catholicism, as a nod to Oscar Wilde, and because I wanted to tie the Easter Uprising into the story. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? No, he’s very unpleasant to people he doesn’t like, and is fairly unpleasant to people he does like.  He means well though and is working through some stuff. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Loyal, obsessive, bitter. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That although weird psychological adventures about sad people and gay ghosts are not very marketable, they’re quite interesting to write and (I hope) read. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until…

H.Y. Gregor | Is There Any Good in Being a Hero if There’s No One Left to Save?
Author Guest / June 15, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? STONEWHISPER: CRIMSON FANG   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Erion spends his days fighting Daemanon’s monsters and his nights skirting the line between criminal and victim. He’s stuck as a hired thug for the Crimson Fang-forced to pay his father’s debt as he tries to keep the Fang from discovering his younger brother’s potent Life Magic. When Erion kills the wrong man, he gives the Fang exactly what they need to bring him into their criminal ranks. When a Guardian of Pelinon arrives to investigate a series of disappearances, Erion and his dodgy allies unearth the truth of the disappearances buried beneath layers of stone, secrets, and death. Necromancers weave dark rites. Chaos erupts. For Erion, is there any good in being a hero if there’s no one left to save?   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Working in the shared world of Eldros Legacy helped frame a lot of the basics of my novel. The continent my novel takes place on is called Daemanon, and I worked closely with my founder, Quincy J. Allen, to line up a story that intertwines…
