Jennifer Vido | Jen’s Jewels Interview: THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE by Lindsay Gibson

September 30, 2023

Jennifer Vido: What inspired your new holiday release, THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE?

Lindsay Gibson: I have a big love for ruby rings, which was a part of the painting from the auction in The Christmas Promise. Not only are rubies rare, but they’re just so beautiful. The red stone also symbolizes deep emotions: love and passion which as the reader learns in my story – perfectly represents my present and historical main female leads. I also have a love of history and learning how things used to be. Being in New England, it’s rich with history. I even live in a New England colonial home, dated from the 1700s… so new concepts and ideas are always around me. But as the idea of crafting a story centered around a red ruby ring, during Christmas, began to take shape, the idea of fusing the past and present into the characters sparked from there.

Jen: Who is Charlotte Moore, and what’s happening in her professional life?

Lindsay: Charlotte is an art buyer for the established and well-known Wallace Gallery in Boston. She’s worked under the owner, Troy Wallace, for a few years and has learned many things in the art world through him. However, a part of her is lost, especially since going through a rough breakup with her college sweetheart, and everyone in her life sees it—except her.

Jen: Why does she take off to Seabreeze, a New England coastal town?

Lindsay: After being oddly drawn to the final painting at an auction with no information attached to it, she made a bid without a second thought, but after she did, she realized that it was a painting of a sunset—something her boss didn’t like. To her surprise, however, not only did Troy love the painting, but he also wanted to learn more about it. The only clue they had was the setting: the quaint coastal town of Seabreeze, New Hampshire. With only twelve days before the gala, Charlotte found herself on a work trip to uncover answers about the painting, but what she discovered instead was something she could never predict.

Jen: Who is Aiden Bennett, and why does he cross paths with Charlotte?

Lindsay: Being a lifelong Seabreeze resident, along with his entire family, Aiden Bennett was bound to cross paths with Charlotte at his mother, Nancy Bennett’s charming inn. After checking in and resting by the fireplace in the lobby, while waiting for a mug of hot chocolate to warm her up—Charlotte finds herself face to face with Aiden. After learning he owns and runs Seabreeze’s infamous history museum, she was intrigued…and hooked by his baby blues. Knowing how long he has lived in town, she knew he may be a good place to start with her research.

Jen: What did you enjoy most about writing this heartwarming love story?

Lindsay: The historical touches. The flashback scenes were so fun! I really took the time to research Portsmouth and New Castle, New Hampshire, which inspired Seabreeze, to bring these scenes alive. Learning about the area’s most treasured events and places from the past, I had a blast weaving these important points in history into the story.

Jen: What books are you looking forward to reading this fall?

Lindsay: Besides all the new romantic Christmas titles I collect every fall, I am really looking forward to IRISH EYES by Hope C. Tarr…more historical romance to dive into!

I also have my eyes set on THE UNMAKING OF JUNE FARROW by Adrienne Young. October is the perfect time for some mystery and suspense!

Jen: What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?

Lindsay: Chopping down our Christmas tree every year is my top favorite. My husband and I always take our girls the day after Thanksgiving and head upstate to a little tree farm that is owned by the parents of author Elizabeth Gilbert called Bees, Fleas and Trees. It’s a magical little place!

Jen: What’s the best way for readers to connect with you?

Lindsay: I am all over social media these days. I’m on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter/X, and my website.

Jen: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Lindsay: In the summer and fall, I am always in my garden. I love to plant it every spring with my girls. Outside of that and having three girls, from preschool to teenager, I have my hands full with them! To escape the craziness of chasing them around, I dance Zumba and take my Doberman on long runs.

Jen: Thank you for sharing an inside peek into THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE. I absolutely loved the book! I can’t wait to read your next release.

Lindsay: Thank you so much, Jen! Looking forward to writing many more!

THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE by Lindsay Gibson

The Christmas Promise

From the newest sensation in contemporary romance comes a delightfully heartwarming holiday story that’s perfect for fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Denise Hunter, and Debbie Macomber.

Art buyer Charlotte Moore is given the chance of a lifetime to be head buyer for the esteemed Wallace Gallery’s Christmas charity gala. But when she arrives at auction, after the most prominent pieces are all bought up, in a panic, she bids on the final painting—an unsigned sunset landscape she’s nearly sure her boss will despise.

To save her job, she finds herself in the beautifully festive New England coastal town of Seabreeze, the setting of the painting. When a nor’easter blows through, she’s stuck at the adorable Cove Hill Inn, all decorated for the holiday and brimming with Christmas magic. While it’s not an awful place to be snowed in, her ability to work is at a standstill, with the gala looming closer.

And she isn’t expecting to meet the innkeeper’s soon, ruggedly handsome Aiden Bennett, a distraction she definitely doesn’t need. Even the inn’s cherry scones and the town’s Christmas fair are no match for Aiden’s charm.

However, when she uncovers a family secret that could impact everyone, including herself and Aiden, it might shake up more than just the holiday. Under the shimmer of the town twinkle lights and the snow-covered Christmas trees, will Charlotte find the answers she’s looking for? Or has she unearthed something else entirely?

A heartwarming, holiday love story that will have you on the edge of your seat, reaching for the gingerbread cookies and hot cocoa.
