Kat Martin | My Perfect Day

June 8, 2017

People often ask what my writing day is like.  Since I’m a workaholic, most of my writing days are long and mentally tiring.  I thought it might be fun to tell you what my perfect day would be.

Aside from a trip to Paris, Rome, or some other exotic location, I had a perfect day last week.  I did some book promo for the first book in my Texas Trilogy, BEYOND REASON, which is out May 30th, then went to work on the book that comes out in February next year, BEYOND DANGER.

It was one of those days where everything came together.  Since great writing days don’t happen that often, authors value them highly.  Because it was the first truly glorious day in Montana after a long winter, I decided to quit a little early.  I was drained after writing an intensely romantic love scene, but happy with what I’d produced.

As a treat, my husband and I decided to go on a camera safari.  Loading snacks into the pickup, we headed into the Montana mountains.  In one afternoon we saw a herd of elk, two dozen deer, a group of sand hill cranes, an osprey, and a variety of ducks and Canadian geese.

Set among scenic, snow-covered mountain vistas stretching as far as you could see, it was a nature lover’s dream.

Supper on the way home was a stop at Trixie’s Antler Saloon.  Yup, that’s right.  Trixie’s–the only food around for miles–is definitely rustic.  But there’re great folks who’ll throw a steak on the grill and pour you an ice-cold beer.

We headed home in the dark, tired, but smiling.  The end of a perfect day.

In the morning I went back to promoting my new book, BEYOND REASON, Lincoln Cain and Carly Drake’s story.  In the story, a ruthless Texas drug lord wants Drake Trucking, the company Carly inherited from her grandfather, Joe Drake.  Big money is involved.  And very big danger.

Multi-millionaire Lincoln Cain has vowed to protect Carly.  He’s determined to keep the promise he made Joe for helping him turn his life around after he was released from prison.

It’s a high-action thriller with plenty of passion and romance.  I hope you’ll look for BEYOND REASON and that you enjoy it.

Love to hear what your perfect day would be.

Till next time, all best and happy reading, Kat

Texas Trilogy #1

Beyond Reason

New York Times bestselling author Kat Martin raises chills as danger stalks a woman determined to make it in a man’s world . . .

Five weeks ago Carly Drake stood at her grandfather’s grave. Now she’s burying Drake Trucking’s top driver, and the cops have no leads on the hijacking or murder. Faced with bankruptcy, phone threats and the fear of failure, Carly has to team up with the last man she wants to owe—Lincoln Cain.

Cain is magnetic, powerful, controlling—and hiding more than one secret. He promised Carly’s granddad he’d protect her. The old man took a chance on him when he was nothing but a kid with a record, and now he’s the multi-millionaire owner of a rival firm.

But Linc’s money can’t protect Carly from the men who’ll do anything to shut her down, or the secrets behind Drake Trucking. If she won’t sell out, the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close . . . and fight like hell.
