Megan Frampton | All supernatural species have emerged from hiding and are now living, working, and loving in London

August 27, 2026

What is the title of your latest release?
DEMONS AND DIPLOMACY

What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Queen Victoria is a vampire. Prince Albert is a dhampir. All supernatural species have emerged from hiding, a result of The Great Revelation led by the Queen, and are now living, working, and loving in London.

How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I’ve always loved the Great Exhibition (thanks, North and South!), so setting it in 1851, just prior to the opening of the Great Exhibition, made sense.

Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?
Absolutely! She’s efficient, snarky, and loves tea. Like me, except I am not all that efficient.

What are three words that describe your hero?
Acerbic, smart, charming

What’s something you learned while writing this book?
That I love writing in first person.

Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I edit as I draft.

What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Anything salty – I love french fries, potato chips, and salted nuts.

Describe your writing space/office!
I write on my couch or in a coffee shop where I buy overpriced lattes and try to concentrate.

Who is an author you admire?
Sarah MacLean, because her books are so well thought out and enjoyable throughout.

Is there a book that changed your life?
Yes, THE HUSKY AND HIS WHITE CAT SHIZUN. That is when I realized that the danmei genre was going to be my obsession.

Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published). Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
It was decades ago! I was at the Jersey shore and got a call on my cell phone (probably a flip phone) with the offer. The wind kept making the service go in and out, and I couldn’t quite register what was happening, but I figured it out eventually.

What’s your favorite genre to read?
Danmei

What’s your favorite movie?
House of Flying Daggers

What is your favorite season?
Summer

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
It is this month! I’ll be hanging out with my BFF, getting a mani/pedi, and then going to a Romance Book Club.

What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
To My Shore, a Chinese BL series based on a contemporary danmei.

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Indian

What do you do when you have free time?
Read and binge-watch.

What can readers expect from you next?
The second book in the Ministry of Supernatural Affairs series!

DEMONS AND DIPLOMACY by Megan Frampton

Ministry of Supernatural Affairs #1

demons

A tantalizing pact between an ordinary woman and the silver-tongued son of the Devil is all that stands between Britain—and all hell breaking loose.

1851, London. All supernatural species have emerged from hiding, a result of The Great Revelation, led by Her Majesty, the vampiric Queen Victoria, and her dhamphir consort, Prince Albert.

Cora Hastings is the British government’s Species Ombudsman, a human tasked with keeping the peace between supernatural creatures. It’s run-of-the-mill work: enforcing the newly created shifting parameters, negotiating contracts between species, and generally making certain all Londoners are treated equally.

That is, until the Devil himself decides he wants to leave his hellish home and see the results of Prince Albert’s greatest accomplishment, the Great Exhibition. His arrival could upset the uneasy peace between creatures, and worse—he’s brought his son.

The Marquis of Hell is diabolically good-looking, unnaturally perceptive, and, well, a demon. Cora navigates her sinfully seductive diplomatic assignment as best she can, until she catches wind of a secret conspiracy set to come to fruition at the opening of the Great Exhibition. This leaves her with an impossible choice: Either Cora enters an unholy alliance with the Devil’s son, or she watches as her world is torn asunder….

About Megan Frampton

Megan Frampton

Megan Frampton’s love affair with books began when her gormless parents (not an ounce of gorm between them. And let’s not even mention feck) moved her to a remote town in New Hampshire where there was only one television station. And then the TV broke. She devoured every book of fiction in her well-read parents’ library, finding special joy in Barbara Cartland (she was young, remember), Georgette Heyer, C.S. Lewis, Anya Seton and the fairy tales collected and translated by Andrew Lang. Megan majored in English literature at Barnard College with a double minor in political science and religion. She worked in the music industry for 15 years, editing and writing music reviews for a music industry trade magazine. Eventually, she became the Editor-in-Chief and went on to develop music industry conference programs. Megan married one of her former interns and lives in Brooklyn, NY, with him and her son. Now that she stays at home, Megan has returned to reading and writing the fiction that was her first love. She is a member and President of the Beau Monde (2004-2005), the Regency chapter of the Romance Writers of America, and a member of the NYC chapter of the RWA as well.
