Meredith Schorr | Author-Reader Match: SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU

July 26, 2023

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Meredith Schorr!

WRITES:

Hi there! My name is Meredith and I write lighthearted romantic comedies with a splash of on-the-page heat and reform Jewish representation. SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU is an enemies-since-childhood to lovers romcom set in Manhattan. Molly and Jude are former neighbors and complete opposites who have hated each other since they were kids. Now, in their late twenties, they are forced together to plan a surprise co-anniversary party for both sets of parents, who are still best friends. Initially, they revert to their immature pranks but soon a grudging friendship develops, ripe with sexual tension that catches them off guard. When they discover they’ve each been dating doppelgangers of each other for a decade, they are forced to question why they are seeking in romantic partners what they claim to hate about each other.

ABOUT:

I am a born and bred New Yorker who recently moved out of Manhattan to the smaller city of White Plains (and am still getting used to it). When I’m not writing or working my day job as a trademark paralegal at a law firm, you might find me running outdoors, watching a Yankee game, reading, taking an OrangeTheory Fitness class (my new obsession), sleeping, spending time with my friends and family, or glued to Netflix/Apple TV/Hulu/Prime/Max…for research, obviously!

I’m looking for readers who enjoy:

  • Enjoy a lot of “Com” with your “Rom”
  • Are willing to suspend reality a tiny bit
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously
  • Appreciate a good prank
  • Enjoy a healthy dose of conflict and tension
  • Love a slower burn

WHAT TO EXPECT IF WE’RE COMPATIBLE:

  • Clever and witty banter
  • Swoony romantic antics
  • Outrageous family drama
  • Very amateur poetry
  • Pop culture references galore

SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU by Meredith Schorr

Someone Just Like You

Sizzling chemistry and tender friendship develops between two childhood rivals in this hilarious rom-com from the author of As Seen on TV.

New Yorker Molly Blum knows everything about her lifelong nemesis, Jude Stark. With their families so close, they should have been best friends. Instead, she thinks he’s a too-charming slacker, and he thinks she’s allergic to fun. After years of one-upping each other’s pranks (chocolate-dipped cat treats are not as delicious as they appear), one high school joke went too far, and they stopped speaking completely. But now that they’re supposed to help plan a massive party for their parents—together—there’s no better time to resume their war.

And it is on. Only somewhere between all the sniping and harmless hijinks, a reluctant friendship develops, along with an unexpected spark of sexual tension. It might have to do with the fact that she’s been dating Jude-lookalikes and he’s been dating Molly doppelgangers. Or the fact that neither of them is nearly as horrible as they thought. All Molly and Jude know is that they’ve mastered the art of hating each other. Falling in love, on the other hand, is a whole new battlefield.
