Naima Simone | 20 Questions: DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME

November 9, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release?

DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME, Book 2, Love on the Radio

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

A burned-out rock star returns to his hometown and must face the woman he left behind brokenhearted a decade ago. But as passion reignites, the secrets and pain that drove them apart still wait to steal their second chance at love.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

Though the books in the Love on the Radio series are standalones and feature different couples, each one takes place in the small, quaint town of Pike’s End, Washington.

4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Definitely! She’s someone you’d want to call your best friend.

5–What are three words that describe your hero?

Gifted, scarred, and redeemable

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I don’t know if I learned anything new as much as was reminded about taking care and sensitivity when writing a character’s experience that is not your own.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit as I go because once I’m done with a book, I’m done! LOL!

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Sushi!

9–Describe your writing space/office!

It’s my son’s former bedroom (he left me!!) that I turned into my office. It has LOTR, Harry Potter and Narnia paintings, LOTR curtains, a couch, an ottoman, desk, a chair and, of course, bookcases!

10–Who is an author you admire?

I love Nalini Singh. And recently I just met Brenda Jackson, and whoa! What a lady and writer! She’s amazing!

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I always say it’s the book that opened the door of my imagination.

12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

Rather than “the call,” it was “the email.” I was working at a bank at the time, and there it was, sitting in my inbox. The email that would officially make me a published author. I took off running down the hall, screaming, “I’m going to be published! OMG! I’m going to be published!” That’s also when everyone else found out that I was writing books. LOL!

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

There isn’t just one. I’m a total mood reader, so it depends on how I’m feeling. But my go-to’s are contemporary, historical, and paranormal. And lately, I’ve been killing a ton of urban romance!

14–What’s your favorite movie?

Dirty Dancing. And Mystic Pizza. And Beyond the Lights. LOL!

15–What is your favorite season?

Fall and winter. I can’t decide! I’m so indecisive. shameface

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

A day off to do nothing but read, eat my favorite meals, nap, and veg out in front of the television binging on Nollywood movies. No responsibilities!

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Oooh. The Rings of Power and Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone/Nothing to Hide (really good French film!)/Demon’s Dream by Elle Kayson and the Malice-Mayhem-Insane Love series by Bianca Xaviera/Bonkers Romance and Crimes of Passion. Whew!

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I love Italian.

19–What do you do when you have free time?

What’s that? LOL! I read, read, read. And watch movies. And read. And nap. And eat. I’m a bookworm, Garfield. LOL!

20–What can readers expect from you next?

I have two more releases this year! One is RAVAGED, Book 2 in the BURNED, Inc. series, and TROUBLE FOR HIRE, a Rose Bend novella. So I’m seeing 2022 out right!

Love on the Radio #2

Don't You Forget About Me

Whoever said be careful what you wish for had a serious gift for understatement.
As one of the world’s hugest musicians I’d seen and had it all. Sold out tours. Awards. Fame. Money. Women… And I’d almost lost it all. Epically.
Now I’m back home. A broken, burned out, desperate rock star…and a single father. I returned to give my son a family, stability. To figure out my life. But coming home meant seeing her.
The woman who was once my everything. Who made life in this too small town bearable. Who I loved with my whole heart…my whole body. But long held secrets forced me to leave nine years ago. Forced me to abandon her. And she’s never forgiven me.
Still…
I’ve never forgotten her or the heat between us that burned so hot we damn near went up in flames with it. And I want it again. And again. Even knowing the past will only tear us apart once more…

About Naima Simone

Naima Simone

USA Today Bestselling author Naima Simone’s love of romance was first stirred by Johanna Lindsey, Sandra Brown and Linda Howard many years ago. Well not that many. She is only eighteen…ish. Though her first attempt at a romance novel starring Ralph Tresvant from New Edition never saw the light of day, her love of romance, reading and writing has endured. Published since 2009, she spends her days—and nights— writing sizzling romances with a touch of humor and snark. She is wife to Superman, or his non-Kryptonian, less bullet proof equivalent, and mother to the most awesome kids ever. They all live in perfect, sometimes domestically-challenged bliss in the southern United States.
