Naima Simone | Conversations in Character with Kade Gibson
Author Guest / October 13, 2023

Book Title: PLEASE DON’T GO, GIRL –  Book 3 Love on the Radio series Character Name: Kade Gibson   How would you describe your family or your childhood? Idyllic. You didn’t think your boy knew that word much less how to spell it, did you? Yeah, don’t let the tattoos and my inner hoe fool you. I was blessed to grow up with two parents who adored each other—still do—and a brother and sister that I loved. Still love them, too, even though my brother… That’s complicated now but we were all close growing up in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. It was a good life.   What was your greatest talent? Music. I love listening to it, writing it, playing it. And by ear. I’m good on several instruments but drums are my first love.   Significant other? Stop playing with me.   Biggest challenge in relationships? Me. I don’t want any part of one. I tried that, didn’t like the ending. Wouldn’t recommend.   Where do you live? Right now? Get this. In this little town that looks like it belongs on one of those postcards you send to your parents when you don’t want them to know what…

Definitely! She’s someone you’d want to call your best friend. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Gifted, scarred, and redeemable 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I don’t know if I learned anything new as much as was reminded about taking care and sensitivity when writing a character’s experience that is not your own. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Naima Simone | 20 Questions: WITH LOVE FROM ROSE BEND
Author Guest / April 1, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? WITH LOVE FROM ROSE BEND, Book 3 in the Rose Bend series 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? The local innkeeper discovers her one-night stand and the newest recluse in town are one in the same person. She has no plans on a repeat and he has no intentions of staying, but a spring festival, a pageant and meddling parents are soon giving this retired quarterback every reason to take a chance on the riskiest game of all… 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Since WITH LOVE FROM ROSE BEND is book 3 in the series, I already knew the setting of the story. But once I decided on the hero for the heroine, he helped shaped the additional places I incorporated into the small town of Rose Bend. Places such as his home, the high school football field and later the professional football stadium. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Oh most definitely! And I’d take her out for a girls’ night and get her tipsy. Because she has an amazing singing voice when she’s toasted. LOL! 5–What are…

Danielle Jackson | 2021 Trends in Romance
Author Guest / December 17, 2021

2021 has been… a year. One that felt both very long and over in the blink of an eye. Thankfully, we have had a plethora of romance novels come out to occupy our time, make sense of the world, and have a little fun. I read a lot of books. A LOT of books. Some I finish, some I don’t, some I buy and they sit happily unread on my bookshelves and eReader. I spend a ton of time looking at books that are coming out—I just received my first email about a JUNE 2022 book—and noticed some trends throughout the year… Trends that I think we’ll continue to see explored, subverted, and challenged into next year as well. WITCHES 2021 was the year of the witch! September and October 2021 saw a bunch of witchy, cozy, paranormal romance novels come out, and I am here for it all. Women (and men, too) discover their powers and how to control them, but also what can happen when they let loose a little, too. PAYBACK’S A WITCH by Lana Harper, who was a guest on the Fresh Fiction Podcast earlier this year. BLACK MOON RISING AND BLACK SIREN’S SONG by Mila…

Danielle Dresser | Travel Through Books
Author Guest / June 17, 2021

When you read this blog post, I’ll probably be flying through the air on my way across the country to see family I haven’t seen in person in well over a year. I’m beyond excited to get on a plane and go somewhere I haven’t been for some time, see people I adore, and get out of my house! I’m also traveling with my mom and we’re having a tiny girls’ trip before we reach our final destination of Southern California. We are PUMPED. That being said, over the last year+, books have really been my salvation and a way for me to travel, so to speak. I love when a sense of setting is just as important to the story and I feel immersed in the place the characters are figuring out their lives. Here are a few recent reads where I felt like I was truly there, and felt a sense of escapism through reading: SCANDAL IN THE VIP SUITE by Nadine Gonzalez When two people accidentally get double-booked in the same luxurious suite at a gorgeous resort in Miami, instead of trying to find different rooms, they just decide to share. What could happen? A whole lot!…

Danielle Jackson Dresser | Reading Outside of My Comfort Zone
Author Guest / February 16, 2021

It’s still early enough in 2021 that I’m still mulling over my goals and intentions for the year. Drink more water. Write more. Move (with intent) for at least 30 minutes a day. Read more. This last one is always on my list. READ MORE. Is it truly possible? There are so many uncertainties right now, it’s hard to carve out dedicated time to really read. But one thing I do have control over is what I read and every year, I try to push myself to read things that I might not normally gravitate toward. I chose a few recent reads I’ve enjoyed that have been squarely outside of my comfort zone and that I really enjoyed. *** SCIENCE FICTION Look, I love Star Wars a whole bunch, but I’ve never been able to get into “Science Fiction” the “genre.” I stumble over worldbuilding that relies on a ton of explaining, but when it is done well and woven into the fabric of the narrative, I can relax and fully enmesh myself in the setting and the story. WINTER’S ORBIT by Everina Maxwell – What starts out as an arranged marriage to keep political alliances in line turns into…

Naima Simone | Exclusive Excerpt: BACK IN THE TEXAN’S BED
Author Guest / February 2, 2021

Wiping her hands on a towel, Charlotte turned to Faith, smiling as the manager typed out a message so fast on her ever-present phone that her thumbs blurred. “What’d you need?” Charlotte asked. “You, your effervescent personality and beautiful face.” “Do you want me to clue you in on how pimp-ish that sounds, or are we just going to ignore it?” Charlotte drawled, quirking an eyebrow. “Ignore it.” Charlotte snickered, then grinned. As she had been headhunted from the California restaurant where she’d been working, so had Faith, from her native San Antonio, to run Sheen. Faith had created a name for herself as a Jon Taffer in heels. Not that Sheen had been failing and needed rescuing when Faith had been brought on several weeks ago and prior to Charlotte’s hiring, but the owners had wanted to make sure their venture hit the ground running from the beginning. “Okay, give. I have nearly a full restaurant of hungry customers to feed,” Charlotte said, crossing her arms. “What’s up?” “What’s up is I just heard from a source who shall remain nameless that the food critic from the New York Voice magazine will be dropping by Sheen next Tuesday.” Astonishment…

Naima Simone | Exclusive Interview: TRUST FUND FIANCE
Author Guest / September 8, 2020

Hi, Naima! Welcome back to Fresh Fiction. Please tell us about yourself and your new book, TRUST FUND FIANCE.   Thank you so much for having me back! I love Fresh Fiction! And I love talking about TRUST FUND FIANCE. LOL! This release is Book 4 in the new Texas Cattleman’s Club series, Rags to Riches. The Wingate nephew, Ezekiel “Zeke” Holloway volunteers to help his friend and Royal socialite Reagan Sinclair access her trust fund by marrying her. But this supposedly platonic marriage of convenience becomes anything but convenient, thanks to a particularly hot case of passion and need. Plus, throw in the intrigue and scandal that continues to plague the Wingate family and their company, and this book is full of mystery, romance and hot times! Before we dive into questions about the book, can I just say how much I adore this cover? What was it like opening up your email and seeing it for the first time?  Oh wow. Is saying “angels wept” being overly dramatic? LOL! Seriously, though, I was stunned. Not just by the beauty and elegance of it–which, let’s be honest, has an overabundance of both. But by the attention to detail. The…
