Anna J. Stewart | A Romance Writer is Born
Author Guest / September 24, 2024

Back in college, I changed my major I don’t know how many times, but every time I did, it was because I’d read a new romance and whatever job the heroine had, it sounded like something I’d like to do. Until I read the next book and… well, you get the idea. Needless to say I spent a lot of years in college, but ended having a major epiphany that propelled me to actually graduating (with a degree in English, which, let’s face it, is reading). That epiphany changed my life. I’d always loved reading, and it was reading romance that made me consider becoming a writer. So that light bulb moment? Become a romance author and I can work all those fabulous occupations for as long as it takes me to write that book! How did I not see that before? Well, when I finally accepted that bit of truth, it was only a matter of time before I got those stories out into the world. Okay, it took me maybe another fifteen years or so, but hey. Who’s counting?! You might wonder what this sliver of my author origin story has to do with my latest release, A…

Anna J. Stewart | A disastrous online date leaves a witness to an attempted murder
Author Guest / August 20, 2024

1–What is the title of your latest release? HUNTING COLTON’S WITNESS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Social wallflower Vivian Maylor’s life is turned upside down when her disastrous online date leaves her a witness to his attempted murder—and leaves her an eyewitness in Detective Nate Colton’s case. An eyewitness now targeted by the killers. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? One of the reasons I love writing Colton books for Harlequin is that all the information is given to me, including the location. This time it’s Owl Creek, Idaho. I’m a born and bred California girl and I tend to write stories in my home state, so this was actually a fun place to research. It’s now on my list of places to visit. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! Both of them. I’m not sure I can write characters I wouldn’t want to hang out with. But Nate Colton is just a good guy. He puts his family first, even when that causes serious complications, and he’s dedicated to his job. He’s someone who believes right is right and wrong is wrong. As for Vivian,…

Anna J. Stewart | Exploring the Beauty of Hawai’i
Author Guest / March 29, 2024

1–What is the title of your latest release? A SURPRISE SECOND CHANCE 2–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Well, this is the third book in a series that I specifically placed in Hawai’i, so the setting came before everything else. That said, Hawai’i is one of my favorite places on the planet and, after writing a dozen or so books for Heartwarming that were set on the California coast, I wanted a bit of a change. I love everything about the islands. The slower pace of life, the feeling of Ohana/family. The absolute beauty of the place. It’s a perfect place to write about. 3–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! Daphne Mercer is a botanist (and nature hike guide), so she’d have to have patience with me. I can only identify roses, daisies and carnations, LOL. But she’s super laid back, devoted to her friends and loves helping people. I’d also hang out with Griffin Townsend, Daphne’s hero. He’s such a dedicated father to his two kids (he hand-washes his daughter’s favorite stuffie!) and always puts them first. That makes him a good guy in my eyes. 4–What are…

Anna J. Stewart | 20 Questions: EXPOSED
Author Guest / November 14, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? EXPOSED. Book 1 in the Circle of the Red Lily romantic suspense series. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A distrustful Hollywood photographer and cop’s reluctant partnership threatens to expose the truth about a decades-old murder and the secret society that will do anything to stop them. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The question I asked myself at the beginning of the story was what pictures could my heroine come across that would put her in mortal danger? I knew the pictures would be old, from maybe the 40s or 50s, and for me, that era of Hollywood has always been fascinating. From then, I knew there was only one place this story could happen: Hollywood. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! She’s (almost) filterless which also makes her borderline hysterical in the humor department. Honest (perhaps too honest?), snappy, and quick-witted. That doesn’t mean she’s without fault, though. She also acts before she thinks things through, but she’s also a very loyal friend who will do anything to protect the people she cares about. 5–What are three…

Anna J. Stewart | 20 Questions: WYOMING PROMISE
Author Guest / July 29, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? WYOMING PROMISE, The Blackwells of Eagle Springs, Book 1 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? N/A 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? As we knew this was a western series and we’d already used Montana extensively, we opted for something close in both setting and proximity. We almost went with Texas but chose Wyoming because it was a little bit different. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! Corliss is a hoot! Especially if you want to learn about horses, ranch life, or family devotion. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Devoted. Patient. Honorable. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I had no idea that quarter horse training was a thing! I’m not all that up on the cowboy world, so every Blackwell book I write is always an education. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I write so by the time I get to the end it’s a pretty polished draft and clean enough I can turn around and send to my editor. 8–What’s your…
