Lauren Edmondson | A Gilded Age Mansion and a Society Wedding
Author Guest / February 24, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? WEDDING OF THE SEASON 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Cass Coventry reluctantly returns to the Gilded Age mansion where she was raised to help her sister plan the wedding that has all Newport society talking. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I visited the Gilded Age mansions in Newport, Rhode Island years ago. As we were touring The Breakers, I learned that the descendants of the Vanderbilt family, who had called the “cottage” home for 120 years, were moving out of their third-floor apartments, having turned over the rest of the mansion to tourists and preservationists. This relocation was either voluntary or involuntary, depending on which source you read. I thought this drama would make a very good novel and tucked the idea away. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Adventurous, creative, and witty 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? Newport’s layers of history, from colonial times through the Revolutionary War, the Gilded Age, and beyond, make it one of the most interesting cities in America. 7–Do you…

Jill Shalvis | An Unexpected Inheritance Leads to a Friendship Journey
Author Guest / January 17, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE BACKUP PLAN 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? N/A 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I’m currently writing in the Sunrise Cove series (all standalones, I swear!), set at Lake Tahoe. Which happens to be where I live. Gorgeous lake. Stunning mountain. Skiing, boating … it was a no brainer. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Yes! Alice is incredible. She’s fiercely loyal, tough as nails but with a soft, shy heart, AND she can build stuff and fix her own car. She’d be a great BFF. If you can get past her walls, that is. The woman does have a fortress around her heart… 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Smart, funny, sexy! 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That I can indeed eat a whole box of cookies while stressing over a first draft. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I race through a first draft, then add in the heart and soul, the sexy, the funny, all in subsequent drafts. Everyone has their own way…

Holly James Interview – How One Day Can Change Everything
Author Guest / July 12, 2022

What inspired you to make this story with a “make a wish-life changed overnight” theme? I think the urgency created by a story that unfolds in twenty-four hours makes for a compelling, page-turning read as well as shows us how one day can change everything. As a reader, these are some of my favorite types of stories and from a creative perspective as a writer, I find it a really rewarding challenge to condense a full story into such a short time period. From the start, I knew Lucy would make a wish that would change her life, and I decided to set the story over the course of a single day when I started thinking about all the things women have to lie about in a twenty-four-hour period—from their appearance, to relationships, to life at the office. The fact that there was enough to fill a day from start to finish basically made the story write itself!   These kinds of stories can range from humorous to drama and angst oozing out of every pore. How would you describe NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH? I aimed to strike a balance between humorous and serious. I’ve jokingly referred to the book…

Laura Trentham | Exclusive Interview
Author Guest , Interviews / February 8, 2019

Today, Editorial Manager Danielle Dresser welcomes award-winning author Laura Trentham! The first book in her new Heart of a Hero series, THE MILITARY WIFE, is available now. One aspect that I found interesting in the military life you portrayed was how lonely it could be, but also at the same time, there’s a support network of people who will go above and beyond to be there when someone needs help. Can you talk a little bit about these “found” families, and how they formed among your characters? My best friend is a military wife, so I’ve had a front-row seat to the spouse experience for two decades. Military bases are their own communities and only the women (and men) who walk the experience can ever truly understand what it’s like to have a spouse deploy for months at a time, especially when you have kids. It really does take a village. In The Military Wife, the friendship between Harper and Allison is sisterly. Allison is Harper’s guide into a strange new world and gives her some good, but tough advice. Then, when Allison needs support, Harper is ready and willing to step up. I loved how their friendship weathered time…
