Nora’s a hoot. She’s a towering tall, strong, independent, sassy woman who secretly just really wants a hug and I love her to death.   5–What are three words that describe your hero? Unlucky, overthinker, loyal (once you’ve earned it)   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?  Hmmm, I did a lot of research on the marriage laws and rules about licenses in nineteenth century Colorado   7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? A bit of both. I try to wait to the end, but I tend to edit my first several chapters as I go. I can skip around…

Lydia San Andres | 20 Questions: COMPROMISED INTO A SCANDALOUS MARRIAGE
Author Guest / July 26, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? COMPROMISED INTO A SCANDALOUS MARRIAGE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Based on a true story. When Paulina Despradel is driven out of her house in a thunderstorm and seeks refuge with her neighbor Sebastian Linares, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with him—or that they would be forced to wed by her unscrupulous brother. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? For a while now, I’ve been eager to write a book set in the town of San Pedro de Macorís. It’s on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, around two hours from where I live, and I visit every once in a while, to gawk at all the lovely early 20th century architecture and have seafood in one of the restaurants at the river’s edge. Travel inland and you’ll find sprawling cane fields and sugar mills dating back to the 19th century. 4—Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? I would definitely join her in a shopping expedition around town. Especially if Sebastian’s paying! 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Protective, stubborn, dependable….

I’m a Regency romance author, so sticking to England was a no-brainer. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! She’s smart and sassy, and she embraces adventure and romance with enthusiasm 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Stubborn, Noble, Dedicated 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That tradition is a prison, and you shouldn’t do something out of guilt or obligation, and that reduced circumstances makes a person all too desperate. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Absolutely I edit as I go along. It saves so much time and allows me to really get to know characters and plot. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Thai food or the occasional greasy…

Amalie Howard | 20 Questions: ALWAYS BE MY DUCHESS
Author Guest / July 13, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? ALWAYS BE MY DUCHESS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Victorian era Pretty Woman meets Center Stage. An emotionally compromised, taciturn duke convinces a struggling, sassy French ballerina to take on a role as his fiancée for the season to convince an earl to sell him a piece of property, but ends up falling in love with her instead. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Since it’s a historical novel set in the Victorian era with a British duke, the primary setting is England, but because the heroine is French, I couldn’t not have a scene or two in France. I consider Paris a second home. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Neve has a great sense of humor, she’s level-headed but also seems like she would be up for anything, and she’s loyal. My kind of friend. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Astute, guarded, deeply caring. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? My hero took hefty inspiration from my son who is neurodivergent. I didn’t set out to write Lysander this way, but…

Katherine Grant Interview – Multilayered Characters in Romance
Author Guest / July 13, 2022

In your new book, THE GOVERNESS WITHOUT GUILT, your heroine Sophia Preston decides to become a governess. What inspired to create a governess character? Were you a JANE EYRE fan? Yes, I am a fan of Jane Eyre! Beyond that, I am really intrigued with how a woman could assert her independence in Regency England. Earning her own income as a governess is one way to do that. From the start, Sophia has yearned to be independent from her family because she feels different from them, and so she decided to become a governess. However, like many of us, by the start of the novel, she is disillusioned with her job, so the question becomes: are there any other options available to her?   Your hero, John Anderson, is a doctor. How would you describe his personality? John is a very caring, anxious person. When researching accoucheurs (the precursor to a modern OB-GYN), I was struck by how much of the care afforded aristocratic mothers was focused on creating psychological comfort, as opposed to actual medical interventions. That informed who John is – a person who reads the room to see how everyone is feeling and then reacts to do…

Renee Ann Miller | Author-Reader Match: NEVER MARRY A SCANDALOUS DUKE
Author Guest / July 6, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Renee Ann Miller. Writes: Renee Ann writes sexy historical romances where there is drama, lots of feels, some giggles, and always a happily ever after. Her heroes need an independent and strong heroine to show them what they are missing out on in life. Her current series is the Infamous Lords. There are six books in the series, but most readers feel they can be read as standalones. Her newest book, NEVER MARRY A SCANDALOUS DUKE, is about Lady Sara Elsmere, an entomologist who is so firmly on the shelf, that she might as well be nailed in place. Not that Sara minds. She is far more concerned about her study of butterflies than society’s gossip. Of course, it’s also true that the nervous laughter that ruined Sara’s debut still haunts her. The hero, Ian McAllister, the Duke of Dorchester, is perfectly satisfied to remain a rogue for the rest of his days. But when he finds he has kissed the wrong woman at a masquerade ball, albeit…

Holly Newman | 20 Questions: AN ARTFUL DECEIT
Author Guest / July 1, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? AN ARTFUL DECEIT –  book 1 of a new 5 (or maybe 6) book series “The Art of Love” 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? What happens at a house party when a Duke is mistaken for a Viscount? Add two Michelangelo sketches, hidden passages, vanishing and reappearing art, threatening messages, conniving art collectors, arrogant academicians, a Bow Street agent, a lovelorn couple, and an elderly prankster. It’s enough to give a Duke a headache. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted to take my hero “out of his element” to shake him up a bit. Plopped him down in a house party he couldn’t simply ride away from. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Yes! She is the embodiment of the phrase “still waters run deep”. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Creative, polite, determined. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? Trust my unconscious mind. I practiced telling my unconscious mind to work on the next scene for me. I had ideas suddenly come to me while in the shower, folding clothes, pushing a…
