Jennifer Fischetto | Welcome to Chance, Massachusetts
Author Guest / August 22, 2024

Welcome to Chance, Massachusetts! Hi! I’m Sofie Rinaldi, and my father owns and runs Fortune Diner. I grew up in this space, always smelling burgers, fries, duck confit hash, and seafood gumbo. Dad has a thing for experimenting with cuisine from various countries and regions, as well as giving the customers something they haven’t tasted before. We even live in the apartment upstairs. I may be biased, but everyone would in town loves his food, and he has the best coffee. Once called Sawdust Creek, we were in need to some improvement after the lumber and textile factories went under. The owner of the general store suggested Mayor Davenport put in for a bid for a casino. I knew our chances (no pun intended) were slim. No one had heard of our dusty corner of the world, but some of the residents were excited. This was five years ago. The bid was turned down, but that didn’t stop our mayor or the town. They took it upon themselves to turn every business into a place that would attract tourists. The brick and stucco buildings were painted white, the names were changed, like Fortune and Karma Cuts, the local beauty salon….

Jennifer Fischetto | Author-Reader Match: ROAD TRIPS, BLUE SKIES & DEAD GUYS
Author Guest / May 24, 2024

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match”; where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Jennifer Fischetto! Writes: My Gianna Mancini Mysteries series are paranormal cozy mysteries featuring an amateur sleuth who can see and communicate with opinionated and sassy ghosts and who has a big, loving family. In the latest book, ROAD TRIPS, BLUE SKIES & DEAD GUYS, Gianna helps an older woman, Betty, find out who killed her, and it is not an easy task. First there’s Betty’s ghost who’s adamant about her killer being a friend and to make things more difficult, Betty’s death was ruled an accident in another state. The only way for Gianna to get involved is to go on a road trip with her mother and cop brother, Enzo. While I adore all things creepy, my stories are fun and will hopefully make you laugh. About: I grew up mere feet from the boardwalk, sand, and Atlantic Ocean in Long Beach, NY, which is where I came up for the setting, South Shore Beach, in the Gianna Mancini Mysteries–part beach town, part suburbs….

“Welcome to the family!” Pop says, and we each raise our glasses again. The bubbles must tickle Alice’s nose, because she giggles. “What are your plans? Have you set a date yet?” Ma asks. I chuckle. “We haven’t even been engaged a full day yet.” It’s clear she’s thrilled, but give us at least a week to discuss it. And even in a week, we won’t have concrete plans. “Well, I’ve been thinking about this for a while,” Julian says. “So I have ideas.” I whip my head in his direction. Seriously? This perks Ma up even more. Julian fills everyone, including me, in on his plans. The ceremony will be held at that small, charming church on the other side of town, with lots of white roses, candlelight, and soft harp music. Everyone keeps a straight face at the mention of a harp. “Someone will recite a meaningful poem, perhaps Alice, and someone else will sing something meaningful but also uplifting. Gianna will look stunning, of course, in white, and I’ll wear a silver-gray tux.” “I can imagine it all,” Ma breathlessly says. “How lovely.” It’s something, alright. “There are several amazing spots for the reception, but I’m enamored…

1–What is the title of your latest release? TUTUS, FRIES & DEAD GUYS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When ghost whisperer Gianna Mancini finds a dead dance teacher, she strikes out to discover the murderer to save her niece, but the teacher’s ghost has more fun scaring people in mirrors then helping, and the killer will stop at nothing to get Gianna out of the way. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? South Shore Beach is the fictional version of the town I grew up in, Long Beach on Long Island, NY. I haven’t lived there in decades, but I have fond memories of the town. No other place I’ve lived since has been anything like it. 4–Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life? Absolutely! Gianna would be a great friend, and she loves to eat. We’d get along well. 5–What are three words that describe your sleuth? Loyal, determined, brave 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I researched dance terms and competition locations in the real towns based around my fictional one. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?…
