Tee O’Fallon Interview – Federal Agents, Canines, and Romance
Author Guest , Interviews / April 4, 2022

Is it soon apparent in TOUGH JUSTICE who the bad guys are, and the challenge is just finding out how to stop them? Or is part of the mystery uncovering who’s behind it all? Personally, I like a good mystery, and it seems like most readers feel the same. Makes for a good page-turner. Rather than give too much away up front, I’ve done my best to try and keep readers guessing. So, part of the mystery in this story is figuring out who the bad guys are. What do you like about writing romantic suspense? Writing RS allows me to combine elements of my work experience and the interesting (and often quirky!) people I’ve encountered throughout my career, with my love of romance. It seemed like a natural fit for me. Since you have your other Federal K-9 series, I’m wondering what inspires you to write about K-9 agents specifically? Honestly, writing K-9 books was not my brainchild. I have to give credit where it’s due. I owe it all to my very first editor, Karen Grove. I’d just finished the last of my NYPD Blue & Gold series, and we were brainstorming over what I should write next. Karen…

Karen Kirst Interview – Writing Inspirational Romantic Suspense
Author Guest , Interviews / March 28, 2022

In MOUNTAIN MURDER INVESTIGATION, your hero is an academic and your heroine is a cop. Was that an interesting dynamic to write? A lot of times, in stories with a cop hero, he tries (with good intentions but also often annoying) to direct the heroine he wants to protect. Does Aiden find it difficult taking his lead from Raven when it comes to his protection? Or do they more so work together? Great question! Going into the story, I didn’t anticipate any issues. I quickly realized it was going to be a challenge to find balance in their relationship. I’m used to writing take-charge heroes, and I didn’t want to portray Aiden as weak. On the flip side, I couldn’t discount that Raven is the professional. Because Aiden respects her position and experience, he follows her guidance. He’s very protective of her, however—she is the love of his life, the one he walked away from in order to keep safe. He is more concerned with her wellbeing than his own. I hope readers come away satisfied with Aiden and Raven’s journey back to each other and the love they thought lost forever.     Based on the book description for…

Susan Stoker Interview – Toughness in Romantic Suspense
Author Guest , Interviews / March 28, 2022

The heroes in your romantic suspense novels seem to be former military, alpha types. What inspires you about these types of heroes? I’ve always been attracted to a man in uniform. There’s just something about them that seems to scream integrity and heroic. Now, I know that’s not always true, but it makes for a great romance! I also married my own man in military (Mr. Stoker was in the Army for 21 years!)   Since so many of your heroes are uber-tough, are there certain qualities you try and incorporate into all your heroines? I happen to think all of us are way tougher than we give ourselves credit for. The things life throws at us can be horrific, sad, scary, and all sorts of other emotions. I write stories where the heroines act in ways I’d LIKE to act if I was ever in one of the situations, I put them though (But I have a feeling I would fall way short!). I’d love for all my readers to see their inner strength in themselves through my characters.   What is your favorite aspect of a novel to write – action scenes, relationship/romance, descriptive, or dialogue? As a…

Alexa Aston | 20 Questions: LEAVE YESTERDAY BEHIND
Author Guest / March 8, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? LEAVE YESTERDAY BEHIND 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A popular actress at a turning point in her career. A professional athlete forging a new path as a fiction writer. And a serial killer interested in seeing both of them dead . . . 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? My heroine is an actress who shoots her TV show in New York City. I wanted a bulk of the action to take place far away from that world, especially since she has gone through a traumatic experience and needs time to heal. I decided to take her back to her childhood home of Aurora, a small town just outside of New Orleans. She would feel safe there, staying with her great-aunt and being around friends she trusts. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? AB-solutely! Callie is fun, feisty, and loyal. She would always tell me the truth and have my back. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? I would say HOT, HOT, HOT—but I’m sure you want something a little more descriptive than that! Let’s go with…

Now that he’s found her again, Gil intends to spend the rest of his life with her. Paige Tyler | Author-Reader Match: TRUE WOLF
Author Guest / February 24, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Paige Tyler! Writes: I write romantic suspense and paranormal romantic suspense. My books feature lots of action, thrills, and of course, suspense, along with the perfect amount of steamy romance. My newest book is called TRUE WOLF and it’s the third book in the Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT) series. Think Mission Impossible…with Werewolves! In this story, werewolf agent Caleb Lynch takes the lead on STAT’s newest assignment to track down the thieves who stole nuclear weapons from the air force. His best connection is a brother-sister duo with a shady record, but there’s no guarantee Caleb can trust them―especially since Brielle Fontaine has very unique supernatural abilities. About: I’m a life-long lover of romance and a USA Today and New York Times Bestselling writer since 2004. I started with a very small indie website that would pay me chapter-by-chapter, and then moved up over the years to bigger and bigger digital publishers until I started publishing with Sourcebooks in 2012. Since then, I’ve…

Cynthia Eden Interview – Building a Romantic Suspense Series
Author Guest , Interviews / February 15, 2022

You’re coming out with your fourteenth and fifteenth book in the “Wilde Ways” series. When you came out with the first book, did you ever think you would continue this far with it? No, I absolutely did not think I would be on book 15! I’m super surprised, truth be told. The first book was PROTECTING PIPER, and actually, when I began it, I didn’t have a series in mind at all.  But as the story developed, there were so many secondary characters who pulled at me, so I thought—you know what? Let’s do a bit more. And that more kept going… The wonderful thing (for me) about the Wilde series—well, it’s that I can develop so many different story ideas that all fall under the Wilde umbrella (so to speak!). Because Wilde is an elite security and protection firm, the characters have assorted backgrounds, and their pasts often pull them into different directions.  I’ve been able to write stories about spies, celebrities, SEALs—each book focuses on different characters, so I have been able to explore and just have fun with the stories. Authors usually say that their favorite characters are the ones they are currently writing about. Who have…

Rebecca Hefner | 20 Questions: THE DAWN OF PEACE

Vampyre/Slayer enemies to lovers with only one bed! 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? This book is the prequel to my Etherya’s Earth series and takes place in Etherya’s world 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. Kilani is so strong and chooses to live her truth rather than a life others want to choose for her. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Strong, compassionate, sexy 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I always wanted to write a prequel for this series and it reminded me how much I love writing in this world. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I draft. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Sushi. Anytime, anywhere. I’m lucky to live right outside NYC where they have fantastic sushi available. 9–Describe your writing space/office! As an author in my mid-forties, I need lots of comfort and heating pads. Debbie Wiley | Reading Slumps are the WORST
Author Guest / January 20, 2022

by Debbie Wiley Books have been part of my life for as long as I remember. Even before I could fully read on my own, I remember my grandmother reading to me and listening to books on record albums, following along with the words in the accompanying book. Everyone knows the last two years have been tough, but for this reader, it’s been worsened by a reading slump. Instead of turning to books for comfort, I’ve watched a lot of mindless television, much to the chagrin of my husband. Fortunately, a few recent reads have really jumped out at me and tugged me into the storylines, snapping that reading slump into tiny pieces! One of the tricks often cited to break a reading slump is to reread old favorites. My twist on this is to read authors I’ve loved over the years. CURSE OF SALEM by Kay Hooper perfectly fit the bill! Not only have I loved Kay Hooper’s books dating back to the 1980s when she wrote category romances, but I’ve also faithfully followed her Bishop Special Crimes Unit series, devouring them as soon as I could get my hands on each new installment. CURSE OF SALEM returns to the town…

Erin Bartels | 20 Questions: THE GIRL WHO COULD BREATHE UNDER WATER
Author Guest / January 7, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? The Girl Who Could Breathe Under Water 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When a reader accuses her of lying and using people for her own gain, a young novelist must return to the place and the people that inspired her successful debut in order to prove to herself that she told the truth as any good writer should. But she soon discovers that the lines between fact and fiction are not as defined as she might like—and she may have missed the most important part of the story altogether. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? If it’s a summer book set in Michigan, it simply has to be on a lake. Lake culture is a huge part of growing up in a state that is 40% water. To me, it couldn’t be set anywhere else. 4–What are three words that describe your main character? Driven, passionate, contemplative 5–Which side character stole your attention the most from the main storyline? I really enjoyed writing any scene with Andreas, Kendra’s unexpected houseguest. He added so much charm and good humor to balance Kendra’s serious side….
