The Character Most Likely – Julia London

June 29, 2022

With the re-issue of Julia London’s bestselling historical regency romance series, The Desperate Debutantes, we wanted to revisit the women of the Fairchild family before the release of THE PERILS OF PURSUING A PRINCE (6/28). When the young ladies of the Fairchild family learn their stepfather has absconded with their late mother’s money, instead of letting fate come to them, they take matters into their own hands.

Which Fairchild is most likely to dance until dawn? Ava! (The Hazards of Hunting a Duke, available now). Ava always knew the key to maintaining her standard of living was to seduce men on a dance floor at a fancy ball with the whole ton watching.

Most likely to bail on a social engagement? Phoebe (The Dangers of Deceiving a Viscount, 11/29) Phoebe is painfully shy and would rather fade into the woodwork. Better yet, she would rather come up with a vague conflict at the last possible minute.

Most likely to gain an offer of marriage? Ava (Hazards). In fact, she gained several before she found out she was broke. In hindsight, she recognizes it might have been easier to have taken one she had in hand, but live and learn.

Most likely to belong to a bookclub? That would be cousin Greer (The Perils of Pursuing a Prince 6/28). She will not even entertain the idea of a man who doesn’t read. That would be akin to befriending a Neanderthal.

Most likely to be attracted to bad boys? Greer (Perils). She never met a brooding, grumpy prince she didn’t like. And if he’s super suspicious of her, even better.

Most likely to regift? Phoebe (Dangers). Phoebe is creative and crafty. She’s a closeted dressmaker, and a master at taking an old gown and making it look new again. If it’s your birthday, she’s going to refashion something and tell you it’s brand new. Because it kind of is.

Most likely to scheme her way into someone’s heart? Ava, darling (Hazards). Ava is a smart cookie. And when a husband isn’t showering her with the adoration she deserves, she knows how to make it happen, because men really are simple creatures.

Most likely to be held against her will? Definitely Greer (Perils) Greer has a taste for adventure, striking off on her own in search of some rumored family fortune, befriending the mysterious Mr. Percy along the way. But, as our mothers warned us, sometimes adventure can put you in a tight spot

Most likely to allow a man some liberties? Surprise, it’s Phoebe! (Dangers) Lurking under that shy exterior is a pretty strong libido. And if you are handsome, and sexy, and totally into her, she’s open to suggestions.

Most likely to make you wish you were their friend? All the Fairchild ladies. Ava, Phoebe, and Greer are funny, resourceful, and unwilling to let life hand them a lemon. They wouldn’t let you, either

THE PERILS OF PURSUING A PRINCE by Julia London

The Desperate Debutantes Series Book #2

The Perils of Pursuing a Prince

From New York Times bestselling author Julia London comes the second novel in her irresistibly romantic Desperate Debutantes trilogy, in which three suddenly destitute aristocratic young ladies must resort to desperate means to keep up appearances…and find the husbands of their dreams.

Lady Greer Fairchild’s only hope of avoiding marriage to the first bidder lies in journeying into the untamed Welsh countryside in search of an inheritance she’s not sure even exists — one reportedly controlled by Rhodrick Glendower, Earl of Radnor, also known as the Prince of Powys. Rumor has it that the prince is rough, ruthless — even a murderer. But Greer never imagined that the brute would refuse to let her leave his remote castle until she has proven her identity. Or that she would find herself powerfully attracted to this passionately virile man whose gruff demeanor belies a proud and sensual nature. The further Greer falls under his spell, the more determined she becomes to unravel the secrets of her Welsh heritage and the mystery surrounding the dark prince who dares her to become his wife and princess.
