Book Title: A LOVER FOR LADY JANE
Character Name: Griffin ap Madoc. We interview him just days after his wedding to Lady Jane Hunter, Lord Sheridan’s daughter.

How would you describe your family or your childhood?
Hard, even if my parents loved me. In time when such unions are seen with suspicion, I am the son of an English maid and a Welsh farmer. As a result, I was often despised, mocked or even harassed growing up.

What is your greatest talent?
I don’t know that it’s a talent, but I speak both English and Welsh equally well. I’m also good with my hands, or so my wife tells me. He reddens. I can repair a damaged door in my sleep, for example, is what I mean.

Significant other?
I just mentioned her, my wife, Jane, the most amazing woman in Christendom who, like me, is half-Welsh, half-English.

Biggest challenge in relationships?
Accepting that you really are enough for the person you love. It’s not always easy, especially for someone in my situation, as you can imagine.

Where do you live?
In Wales, just outside Castell Esgyrn, in a little cottage not far from my sister-in-law and her husband.

Do you have any enemies?
His face darkens. Not anymore.

Greatest disappointment?
Not having killed Geraint and Cynan with my own hands.
Who are—
Never mind, what’s your next question?

Greatest source of joy?
Do I really have to answer? I already mentioned her, twice.

What do you do to entertain yourself or have fun?
I ride my horse Eryr. I play with my little sister-in-law Seren. I talk to my wife.

What keeps you awake at night?
Imagining what my wife’s fate would have been if I had not volunteered to act as translator for her that day. It doesn’t even bear thinking about and it does haunt my nightmares.

What is the most pressing problem you have at the moment?
None. My problems are over now I know Jane loves me for who I am. Now, could we cut this short, she is waiting for me. We’ve planned to go swimming in the lake.

A LOVER FOR LADY JANE by Virginie Marconato

Welsh Rebels #5

When Lady Jane Hunter is abducted by a band of rebels intent on using her to get their revenge on her father, she doesn’t dare hope she will find an ally amidst the tormentors. But she quickly sees that the man charged with translating her words to their leader is appalled at her predicament. Perhaps she can turn to him for help?

Griffin, a simple villager, only accepted to follow the group of Welshmen to flee his village and the pain of a lover’s betrayal. He is horrified when he finds out why they needed an interpreter. They have abducted a noblewoman innocent of any wrongdoing to use her as pawn—and they plan to ruin her in the process.

There is only one choice: he will have to help her escape.

But as they flee for their lives, feelings start to blossom between the two people who should never have met…

About Virginie Marconato

Virginie Marconato

Virginie thinks she became a writer the day she decided to write a (very bad, shamefully close to the real story) version of White Fang when aged nine or ten! As for the Middle Ages she fell in love with it at school during a history lesson, then Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood put its final seal on it all. A girl of twelve then, Virginie never recovered!
