Felicity Heaton | 20 Questions: INFLAMED BY AN INCUBUS
Author Guest / April 7, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? INFLAMED BY AN INCUBUS, which is book 19 in my fated mates paranormal romance series, Eternal Mates. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Fated to be together. Cursed to be apart. Swept up in a tempest of danger and with a dark threat on the rise, can Fenix find the one who cursed them before fate steals his mate from him this time? Or will the soul-searing passion that blazes between them burn everything to ashes again to restart the cycle? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The hero, Fenix, was introduced in previous books so we already knew where he lived, but the story itself takes place in several locations: Scotland, London, and other places in England, plus some time in Hell, America and Norway. It’s quite the jet-set book. The Eternal Mates series is mostly set in the UK and Europe, with plenty of action in Hell too! I love writing about all the paranormal species that call Hell their home. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely. And not just because it might get me closer to…

Bethany Maines | 20 Questions: A DEEPER BLUE
Author Guest / April 7, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? A DEEPER BLUE, book 2 of the 3 Colors Trilogy (but it does read well as a stand-alone) 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Witch Azure Lucas and Rafe DeSandre (alpha-hole, biker, and exiled lone wolf) hit the road and face down a warlock motorcycle game in adventure that puts them on a collision course with destiny. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? In book 1, A Little Red, I had already established that Rafe’s pack was from Oregon and since I live in Washington, it wasn’t a stretch to put them on a road trip to the Pacific Northwest. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Oh, absolutely!  Given that Azure has the second sight and can see the future, she might be the most annoying friend ever since her “I told you so” would be literal. But on the other hand, she’s a ride or die kind of friend who would always show up for her friends.  And of course, if we could go to the nearest casino, that gift might come in handy. 5–What are three words that…

Gama Ray Martinez | Exclusive Excerpt: GOD OF NEVERLAND

c h a p  t e r 1     L ON D ON , 1 9 2 5   A shadow, looking very much like that of a boy, ghosted into the train’s control cab through the front window. It came to a stop in front of Michael, which was strange, given how fast the train was moving. He stared at it for several seconds before looking up. There didn’t seem to be anything that could cast such an odd shade, but after a few moments, he spotted a small cloud floating in front of the full moon. That had to be responsible. In fact, if he looked at the shadow, he decided that it didn’t really look like a boy’s at all—even when it seemed to wave at him. So he ignored it, telling himself it was only a trick of the light and a side effect of a long day. After a few seconds, the shadow’s shoulders slumped, and it slipped out through the same window it had entered from—or, rather, the shadow did what shadows do when they’re no longer visible. It certainly didn’t shrug. Michael glanced back at the sky and found that the…

Lorraine Heath Interview – Brave Women in History Translating To Fiction
Author Guest , Interviews / April 6, 2022

Your new historical novel, GIRLS OF FLIGHT CITY, is set in the 1940s. What inspired you to write a story set in this time and this particular place? My mom grew up outside of London when the bombs were falling. Listening to her tales growing up, I’ve always been fascinated by this time period. When I read an article about a woman tending to the British cemetery in Terrell, TX – the town where my dad graduated from high school – I became intrigued by the history of British pilots coming to Terrell to learn how to fly. It was one of 6 schools across the south that trained pilots for Britain. When I discovered women played a large role in training the pilots, I saw the potential for sharing this remarkable part of our history.   How much research went into this book? Extensive research went into writing this book. In addition to brushing up on my WWII history, I read books about the history of the schools and how the U.S. got involved in training British pilots. I researched the history of women pilots and the bias they faced. Then I needed a general understanding of aircraft used…

Kelli Stuart | 20 Questions: THE MASTER CRAFTSMAN
Author Guest / April 6, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE MASTER CRAFTSMAN   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? “The Master Craftsman is a fascinating treasure hunt, an atmospheric tale of the Russian Revolution, and a heart-thumping generational story.” Patti Callahan, New York Times bestselling author of Becoming Mrs. Lewis   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I have long had a passion for the former Soviet Union. After reading a news article about a missing Imperial Easter Egg created by Peter Karl Faberge, I chased down a rabbit trail of research into the world of Faberge. This led me to the opulence of pre-Revolution Russia, and I knew the story needed to find a home there. But to make it a little more interesting, I decided to make it split time so that we could marry modern day Russia with the Russia of Faberge’s day.   4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! The modern-day heroine, Ava Laine, is a girl on a mission on a heart-thumping adventure. I like her spunk. The historical heroine, Alma Pihl, was wildly creative, one of only three master craftsmen in The House of Faberge, and designed…

Callie Hutton Interview – Highlander Hotties
Author Guest , Interviews / April 6, 2022

In TO MARRY A HIGHLANDER, the hero and heroine are made to marry after being found in a somewhat compromising situation. As a romance fan, I like that trope because it’s a quick way of getting two people together who otherwise might not. As a writer, what do you like about using that trope? I like using that trope because sometimes the characters do want to be together, but there is something holding them back. In To Marry a Highlander, that’s what the situation is. Maura has always had a fancy for Conall, but he has such a reputation with the lasses, that she fears if they ever married, he would break her heart.   Your hero’s reputation with women precedes him in this book, and cause trouble in one way or another. How would you describe him to readers? As the younger brother of the Laird of Sutherland, and right hand man to the laird, Conall holds a prominent place in the Clan. He is tall, slender, but all muscle. His long brown hair is tied back with a strip of leather. He uses his deep blue eyes, mesmerizing smile, good looks, and charm to pursue the lasses, who…

Lisa Roe | Author-Reader Match: WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Author Guest / April 5, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Lisa Roe!   Writes: I write humorous women’s fiction with a hint of romance. I call my work “mom-com” because it is a funny, but emotional and very honest look at mothering and a mother’s story. I want to write about how fiercely we love our children, the lengths we will go to make them happy and protect them, but also about how we are only human and that we mess up. Sometimes often, regardless of our best intentions. I also love to explore the world outside of our nuclear family—neighbors, friends, parents, lovers—because after all, we are more than simply someone’s mom.   In my debut, WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD, Ginny, an artist, and single mom from Queens, finds that after years of struggling to make ends meet, a second chance at love might come with the added benefit of helping her give her quirky eleven-year-old daughter Harri everything she never could before, when her new husband asks them to move into his home in an upscale…

Paige Shelton | 20 Questions: THE BURNING PAGES
Author Guest / April 5, 2022

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE BURNING PAGES 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When bookseller Delaney Nichols is invited to a Burns Night dinner, little does she know that her and her coworker Hamlet’s lives are about to be turned upside down. The dinner leads to a real fire and a murder for which Hamlet becomes a suspect. Delaney will have to work hard to douse the flames of suspicion and help find the real killer. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Back when I started the series, I knew I wanted to write something that took place in Scotland. I wanted to go to Scotland (and I was lucky enough to go back then), and I wanted to “create” a bookshop. I didn’t know a thing about Edinburgh, but somehow, we booked our room right in Grassmarket. Once there, I knew I’d found the perfect spot for The Cracked Spine. 4–Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life? Absolutely! I kind of do. She’s in my head all the time. 5–What are three words that describe your sleuth? Curious, grateful, bookish. 6–What’s something you learned…
