Book Title: A BRITISH GIRL’S GUIDE TO HURRICANES AND HEARTBREAK Character Name: Flora Maxwell (with a surprise appearance from side character, Lila Reyes) How would you describe your family or your childhood? My family is loving and stable, but early on I earned the nickname Hurricane because of my tendency to “act out and overcome” instead of relying on those closest to me. Much of my life has been spent dealing with my mum’s declining memory and health due to early onset dementia. She recently passed away, which has been extremely difficult for my whole family. And it’s caused me to make some choices that are so risky, I’ve kept them a secret. What was your greatest talent? I am quite good with a camera! Significant other? Okay––hola, todos, this is Lila Reyes stepping in here. I’m not going to let my hermana in spirit Flora answer this because 1.) It’s way too complicated 2.) Flora doesn’t even have enough clarity on this matter to speak. Yet. But she will, just give her a little time. Besitos, Lila Biggest challenge in relationships? I don’t always feel worthy of good things, love, and kindness. I’m known for…
1–What is the title of your latest release? LOST AND FOUND 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Trudy Yoder longs for a future together. Micah Weaver is stuck on someone in his past. Both of their lives take an unexpected turn when Micah stumbles onto a revelation that shatters their assumptions. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? All my Amish novels are set in the fictitious town of Stoney Ridge in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Stoney Ridge is a lovely, peaceful rural village where familiar faces often pop on and off stage. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Trudy Yoder would be a wonderful, everyday kind of friend. The best. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Loyal, eager, amusing 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? This is a story about a young woman with a mental illness and how her illness affects her family. I did a deep dive into studying this type of mental illness: how it presents, what can happen without medication and counseling and community care…and what can happen with such treatments. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you…

1–What is the title of your latest release? DEVIL’S BATTLE is my upcoming release, Book 3 (of 4 planned) in the Artillerymen Series. Artillerymen has been called a prequel series for my long-running Destroyermen saga and I guess it is in a way, since it takes place in the same alternate universe roughly a century before the events in Destroyermen. And it does hide some Easter Eggs that people who read D-Men will find satisfying. Essentially though, the series stands on its own. You won’t get lost if you read either one without the other. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Ha! Let’s see. My most recent quick description to a stranger was at the dentist, not in an elevator, so I had to talk extra fast. Dentist (looking at my chart): “So, you’re a writer, huh? Publish anything?” Me: “Uh . . . yeah. Nearly twenty books.” Dentist: “No kidding? With words or just pictures?” Me: “Mostly just words.” (Skeptical) Dentist: “So . . . you make any money at that? Crowns aren’t cheap.” Me (shrugging): “It’s a living. Way more fun than breathing other people’s coffee breath up close all day—for me, anyway,” I quickly add….
1–What is the title of your latest release? WHAT BECAME OF MAGIC 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? WHAT BECAME OF MAGIC is a tale of ley lines and magic, found family, a powerful coven, and the many ways we love one another. It is the story of Aline Weir, a witch and outcast who doesn’t believe she belongs the world until the fates intervene, and she is tasked with saving it. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? It’s based off a real place! Serenbe is a wellness community in GA, outside of Atlanta, and it bears a striking resemblance to the town of Matchstick. The rest of the places in the book are based on the town I grew up in, and on the locations of ley lines in the world. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? I would love to be friends with Aline. I feel like I already am, since I know her so well. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Willing, brave, kind. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? How to move through loss. I wrote this novel over the…
1–What is the title of your latest release? FOLLOW THE SHADOWS, The Tales of Moerden Book 1 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When teenager Marise Leeson gets her hands on a crystal ball, she believes her Wicca practice is about to expand. The magic, however, goes horribly wrong and the sphere pitches her into Moerden, an alien world of dragons. Marise befriends Javeer, a young male dragon, and she grows up fast as her focus switches from getting home to saving the dragons, who face slow extinction from a mysterious disease. If Marise and Javeer survive, if their trust and courage are strong, they may succeed. If they do not, the dragons of Moerden will cease to exist. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Marise, my protagonist, comes from a (fictitious) small town in Atlantic Canada near where I live. That part was easy, but only a small part of the action takes place there. Moerden had to be built, and world building, for me, is a step-by-step process. The landscape of Moerden revealed itself to me, as it did to Marise, one vista at a time. It was always an…
