Marc Wayne | A Thrilling Sci-fi Mystery
Author Guest / September 21, 2023

What is the title of your latest release? QUANTUM REACTION   What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? It’s a thrilling sci-fi mystery based on the premise: what if Star Trek-like teleportation were on the verge of launching but not everyone was thrilled by the prospect. With protagonists of a blind man and a woman who struggles with demons from her past, it’s structured like a mystery novel with strong action sequences and takes place in a near-future Earth.   How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I had the idea for the opening chase scene—where the blind guy gets away—long before I started writing. Boston’s T system and the varied towns that comprise its metropolitan area fit the novel’s needs perfectly. Plus, I lived in Boston for several years and really enjoyed it.   Would you hang out with your protagonists in real life? I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy hanging out with JT, the blind exec, but would think twice before befriending Angela, even though she is more loyal and friendly than she appears at first glance. Her German shepherd, Rocky, would probably deter me from trying to get close to her.  …

Ariel Dominelli | A Disaster Reporter in a Superhero Setting
Author Guest / September 21, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? STORM CHASER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Xochitl is a disaster reporter in a superhero setting. During one of her investigations, she uncovers a conspiracy that incriminates one of the strongest men ever to live. Her and her girlfriend try to bring the truth to light and question what makes someone a “hero.” 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I thought it only made sense to be in the city if she was going to live in her brother’s food truck. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? I think I would bore her. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Fearless and obsessive, which makes her sound terrible. Maybe add charming. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? It is nearly impossible to get a food truck in NYC. The waitlist is over a decade long, and the regulations are brutal. It makes all the terrible things that happened to the food truck extra awful. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I use speech-to-text, so I edited it until it…

Katie Keridan | Reuniting the Realms and Bringing Peace to Astrals and Daevals
Author Guest / September 21, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? My latest release is the second book in the Felserpent Chronicles series entitled, BLOOD DIVIDED. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Kyra and Sebastian have finally remembered their pasts as the former Felserpent King and Queen and now it’s time for them to change the future—by reuniting the realms and bringing peace to Astrals and Daevals. But tensions between those in Aeles and Nocens have never been higher, and it will take help from Cyphers, as well as friends old and new, to defeat their arch enemy and bring those with silver and gold blood together again. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? “Blood Divided” picks up a week or so after “Reign Returned” left off. I wanted to give the characters a chance to start developing a new routine, mostly so I could upend whatever they’d established and throw their lives into chaos. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. I have two protagonists—Kyra and Sebastian—and I’d hang out with either of them. In real life, I’m very much a rule follower, like Kyra, so I think it would…

Victor Dixen | Conversations in Character with Jeanne Froidelac
Author Guest / September 21, 2023

Book Title: THE COURT OF SHADOWS: Vampyria Saga Book One Character Name:  Jeanne Froidelac (also known in Versailles as baronette Diane de Gastefriche)   How would you describe your family or your childhood? My name is Jeanne Froidelac and I had a happy childhood in the Auvergne, a secluded mountainous region in the center of France. My small town, Butte-aux-Rats, is so remote that I never saw a vampyre until I turned 17.  Of course, as all commoners, I had to give one tenth of my blood every month to feed the vampyric aristocracy. My father, who was the town’s doctor, was responsible for puncturing me, my two brothers and my mother. The blood of all the villagers was then sent to Versailles. Yes: I really thought my parents were just ordinary servile citizens, doing the willing of the Lords of the Night. Little did I suspect that they were in reality rebels belonging to the Fronde, the criminal organization that has pledged to overthrow bloodsuckers! One day, the soldiers of King Louis XIV, the supreme vampyre, burst into our house. They killed my whole family. I am the only survivor. I came to Versailles under the false identity of…

Lydia Drake | Red Riding Hood Meets the Glittery Underworld of Moulin Rouge!
Author Guest / September 20, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE DUCHESS AND THE WOLF 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Red Riding Hood meets the glittery underworld of Moulin Rouge! 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Susannah makes her first appearance as a side character in Cinderella and the Duke, and I knew that I wanted her as a protagonist. I also knew she wouldn’t be at all like Julia, my first main character. Susannah is very shy and dreamy, not a mover and shaker in society. I knew she’d want to get away from all of that—she would actually hate being married to a duke with the eyes of the ton on her. Since I had already written her as a talented musician, I decided that she’d seek her path to freedom through her music. That, in turn, led me to the idea of her living a double life as a debutante by day, nightclub musician by night. Everything flowed from there. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! Susannah’s forward thinking, very sweet, and artistic. She’d be a great friend. 5–What are three words that describe your…

Suzanne Enoch | A Mix of Classic Rom-Com in Jane Austen Style
Author Guest / September 20, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? LOL – I actually said it’s “Bringing Up Baby” done Jane Austen style. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I’ve written approximately 50 books now, and probably 45 of them have been set during the English Regency period. I just love that time period, and I’m not finished with it yet. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? If I wasn’t intensely introverted, I would love to hang out with Bitsy. She loves parties, friends, and dancing, and she’s very popular. I personally find her exhausting. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Brilliant, Direct, Curious 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I had to do a ton of research about science during the Regency. It was fascinating, some of the things that had been discovered. Somehow they’d already measured the speed of light, and Michael Faraday, on whom my Michael is very loosely based, had discovered that chlorine exists as a gas and a liquid, and had done a ton of electricity and elemental experiments. 7–Do…

Jennifer Ashley | Conversations in Character with Hal Jenkins
Author Guest / September 19, 2023

Book Title: RIDING HARD: HAL Character Name: Hal Jenkins   How would you describe your family or your childhood? I grew up pretty happy, I’d say. My mom and dad had a ranch, and I was riding and roping when I was a tiny kid. It was one of those things, you know, when you’re happy, but you don’t realize it? Life got harder as I got older.   What was your greatest talent? Well, I’m not sure I have any what anyone would call talent. Animals like me. I guess that’s a thing. I won some belts and trophies bull riding, but a lot of guys can do that.   Significant other? No one, yet. There’s one lady I’d like to be, but I can’t say for sure. Hope I’m not blushing here or anything.   Biggest challenge in relationships? I had to be born shy. I’m never quite sure what to say to a lady. So I let them talk. I like listening to Lucy’s voice. Oh, I didn’t mean to say her name.   Where do you live? Right now, Riverbend, Texas. I moved there because it’s a pretty town in the Hill Country, close enough to…

Sarah Morgan | Three Friends Check into an Historic Vermont Inn and Change Their Lives
Author Guest / September 19, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE BOOK CLUB HOTEL 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Three friends check into a historic Vermont Inn for their annual book club meet up and discover that their own story has as many twists as the book they are reading! 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted a cosy winter setting where my three friends could snuggle indoors and talk books, and where better than Vermont? It offers snow, and plenty of small-town charm which was perfect for my story. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Most definitely! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Loyal, fun, brave. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That I really need to persuade some of my friends to take a book club vacation in Vermont. I can’t think of anything more perfect to do in real life. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I go along. If I’ve taken a wrong turn I don’t want to wait until the end to discover it. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?…

Lauren Connolly | Conversations in Character with Cat Byrne
Author Guest / September 19, 2023

Book Title: EARTH MAGIC & HOT WATER Character Name: Cat Byrne   How would you describe your family or your childhood? I had it good growing up, other than the few times my sisters and I accidentally set things on fire. But Dad handled it!   What is your greatest talent? Umm … I can list off a lot of fish facts … is that a talent? I guess I never thought of myself as talented at anything in particular. My older sisters got all the cool genes, and I’m just Cat, I guess.   Oh, but I do have fire magic! I mean, my whole family does, and mine is out of control at the moment, so I wouldn’t call myself a talented fire elemental. Still, humans would probably think it’s cool if they knew about it.   Significant other? There’s this guy Aspen Baumann, we dated in high school, and he just moved back to town. We’re not anything right now, just friends who flirt. Honestly, he’s too good for me. Smart and kind and hot. So hot. I was the one to break things off because I didn’t want to hold him back, but I don’t think…
