It’s our great pleasure to present Sarah Fox! Writes: I write cozy mysteries featuring strong female sleuths with big hearts and lots of curiosity. THROUGH THE LIQUOR GLASS is the fifth book in the Literary Pub Mystery series, which features pub owner and book lover Sadie Coleman. In this book, Sadie is taking part in a local food and drink festival while preparing for her mother’s first visit to Shady Creek, Vermont. When a food writer turns up dead at the craft brewery owned by Sadie’s boyfriend, Grayson, a chill settles over Sadie’s life, one that has nothing to do with the fall weather. When Grayson becomes the prime suspect because of his past ties to the murder victim, Sadie sets out to ensure that Grayson won’t be wearing an orange jumpsuit when her mother meets him for the first time. About: Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, I now live in a small town. I’ve been devouring mysteries from a young age, starting with Nancy Drew,…
1–What is the title of your latest release? ISABEL PUDDLES ABROAD 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Isabel travels to the UK to visit her friend (and potential love interest) Teddy Mansfield, a famous mystery writer. When Teddy’s unpopular neighbor, Hyacinth Amesbury, is found planted in her own garden, Isabel is drawn into the investigation helping a neophyte detective sort through which of her enemies had the strongest motive for murder. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love the UK and travel there fairly frequently, so I wanted to take Isabel there. I chose to set the story in Cornwall for its beauty, and because it shares a similar country charm with Gull Harbor, Isabel’s hometown, and surrounds in Michigan. I chose the village of Mousehole because it’s a harbor village – also similar to Gull Harbor – and because I fell in love with it when I visited. And because I love the name! 4–Would you hang out with your sleuth in real life? Absolutely! 5–What are three words that describe your sleuth? Tenacious. Kind. Fair. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned a great deal about…
FLIRTING WITH THE BEAST was inspired by a cabin my husband and I bought halfway through the Covid pandemic. We live near the beach, literally a five-minute walk from the San Clemente beach and pier, but during California’s lockdown we felt a need to go somewhere, so we’d feel as if we’d escaped to somewhere. Ty and I spent a couple of weekends looking at cabins and areas, and in January 2020 we found a 1923 cabin near Lake Arrowhead in the little town of Blue Jay in California’s San Bernardino Mountains. Even better, the drive was only an hour and a half without traffic (especially with my husband at the wheel.) The cabin still had the original logs, all placed in a vertical design, which was popular in the 1920s and early 30s. Why vertical placement of logs? It allowed local builders to use local logs, and the logs didn’t have to be exactly the same size as there was no joining logs at the corners. The cabin we fell in love with needed so much work, but we loved its history, (our Hawaii house was built in 1929, and our San Clemente home was built in 1926-27) and…
1–What is the title of your latest release? The Sisters of Sea View, Book One in a new series called On Devonshire Shores. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Four genteel sisters (who’ve never had to work a day in their lives) are impoverished after their father’s death and decide to open their seaside home to guests to make ends meet. They expect to host elderly invalids who historically flocked to the shore for their health, but instead find themselves hosting eligible gentlemen including one man with a secret agenda. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Great question! I wanted to set the novel in a seaside resort town in 19th century England. I chose Sidmouth for a few reasons. One, Jane Austen spent a holiday there with her family, and two, I have also been able to visit the beautiful south coast of Devon. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Yes! I don’t have sisters of my own, so I enjoyed creating a family of sisters that I loved spending time with while writing this book. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? The first novel…
1–What is the title of your latest release? SNOW PLACE LIKE HOLLY POINTE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? When two old friends reconnect–after years apart– will their personal Ghosts of Christmas Pasts torpedo their yuletide romance? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? This is the 4th book in my Holly Pointe series, set in the fictional town of Holly Pointe, Vermont 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely! Lucy is a smart, savvy woman who is a good friend to those around her. She hasn’t let the tragedies in her life make her bitter. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Intelligent. Determined. Kind 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned that “snow bowling” is a real thing 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I edit as I draft then, I send the manuscript to a developmental editor. Once I get her comments and suggestions, I do some more editing. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Cinnamon rolls or really anything with carbs 9–Describe your writing space/office! I love my office. I’m surrounded by inspirational sayings. Two…
