1–What is the title of your latest release? A COSMIC KIND OF LOVE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? An astronaut and an event planner’s worlds romantically collide when she accidentally stumbles across the video diaries he recorded aboard the International Space Station. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted to set the book in a city that was modern and fast-paced as a polar opposite to what my hero had experienced living on the ISS for five months. New York City seemed like the obvious and fun choice. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely! There are facets of Hallie’s personalities inspired by a few of my friends. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Smart, sexy, and honorable. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned what life is like for astronauts aboard the International Space Station. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Yes, I edit every chapter after I write it and then once the full draft is complete, I go back and re-edit the whole thing in its entirety before I send it…
P 18–21 The Favor Copyright © 2022 by Nicci French. “Anyway, congratulations,” said Liam, holding up his coffee cup. “What about?” “About your upcoming marriage.” “How do you know about that?” “Someone told me. When I was tracking you down.” Jude laughed. “Tracking me down? What are you, a private detective?” “Just an old friend.” He sipped his coffee. “A doctor, like you always said you’d be. You did it.” Jude’s throat felt tight. She had thought she would never see Liam again, and yet over the years she had imagined meeting him: by chance, on a bus, on a street, in a crowd of people, walking in the Clee Hills by her parents’ house in Shropshire. Because there were things that she needed to say, had needed to say for over a decade, although now the moment had actually come she didn’t know how to start saying them. “I should be the one tracking you down,” she said, haltingly. “I know that you . . .” She stopped. “I’ve never forgotten.” He frowned, as if he was considering this. When he spoke, he didn’t seem angry or even sad. Just reflective, as if he were talking about someone…
1–What is the title of your latest release? UNCANNY TIMES 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Brother and sister monster hunters in pre-WWI America set out to discover who – or what – killed a distant relative, only to discover much of their life was based on a lie. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I knew that my protags were going to live in the Northeast, and I wanted somewhere that was more rural than not, so it was natural to look north. I have friends who live in Upstate NY, and I know the area a little, so when I was scouting locations, it felt like the right place to send Rosemary and Aaron. The proximity to the Great Lakes became a definite advantage, plot-wise! 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? They’re not very comfortable people to hang out with – a little too intense for my taste. But I’d love to buy them a drink and let them tell me stories about what they’ve seen! 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Loyal, thoughtful, pragmatic. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? The…
Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Sarah Beth Martin! Writes I write novels that fall somewhere between literary fiction and psychological suspense, sometimes called a soft thriller. My most recent novel, In the Vanishing Hour, has a mystery at its core, and features characters haunted by secrets and faces of the past. I prefer inner demons to literal ones, although I do love a good old-fashioned horror story. Settings are loosely based on real places, but I mix and match pieces of landscapes and make them my own. Atmosphere is a major player in both of my books, and I like to infuse locations with it. I want readers to get lost not only in a character’s thoughts but in their surroundings – and be haunted by them. About I have lived in Maine more than half my life, but I grew up in Massachusetts, watching old movies, listening to Herb Albert and Burt Bacharach, and attending Red Sox games. I love old maps and other vintage memorabilia,…
Excerpted from The Dark King, by Gina L. Maxwell. Entangled Publishing, 2022. Reprinted with permission. As she emerges from the pool, she wrings the water out of her long hair, then fluffs and separates the strands so they fall in damp pieces around her shoulders. My eyes stay pinned to her as she walks to me and takes a seat on the next lounge chair over. She stays facing me but leans back on her hands and extends her long legs into the space between us. It’s not done in an overtly seductive way—her demeanor is casual, like it’s simply a comfortable position for her to be in—but it makes me want to devour her from her pink-painted toes to her pretty pink mouth. Looking back out over the pool, I say, “You should wear swimsuits with a little more suit to them.” “I packed two for a two-day trip, and if you’ll remember, I was forced to wear the other one as pajamas. I’ll admit I bought this as more of a dare to myself and didn’t really plan on wearing it, but beggars, choosers, yada-yada.” She glances down at herself, then raises her gaze again to aim…
Jennifer Vido: What inspired your new holiday release, THE CHRISTMAS LETTERS? Jenny Hale: I actually came up with the title first and then built the story around it. There’s something about Christmas that makes me nostalgic. I wish my grandparents were still around to share the holidays with us, so I thought it might be interesting to write a story where Nan, who’s passed on, is able to contribute to the holiday through her old letters. Jen: Why is Elizabeth Holloway leaving her life behind in New York City to return home in the Great Smoky Mountains? Jenny: After a rocky twelve months romantically, her boyfriend of seven years has decided that they should break up, right at Christmas. (This was the second idea that came to me after the title: what if finding her Prince Charming was the exact opposite of what she thought? Her boyfriend is uber-wealthy, buys her all the things, and they live in a penthouse in New York. A lot of times, in a romantic story, that’s the ending. What happens if it’s the beginning and it totally falls apart?) Jen: What is Elizabeth’s first impression of Paul Dawson? Jenny: She’s emotionally and…

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Cass Kay! Writes: Hey everyone! So glad to be here and thank you Miranda for having me. All right, let’s get to it! What do I write? I have a background in journalism and script writing, but recently I’ve slipped into fiction novel writing—and I love it. Genres I write are urban fantasy, romantasy, horror, and mystery/thriller. About: I’m a mom of two boys and two dogs, and the wife of an ever-patient husband. I love horror movies and often do scary movie marathons with my teenager. We love every flavor of horror. I just know that, eventually, the garden gnomes are gonna stop laughing to help me out. Tiny little bastards. What I’m looking for in my ideal match: My ideal match means I can reach for the moon and…
1–What is the title of your latest release? THE LAST FRIEND YOU’LL EVER HAVE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? If you could kill people just by touching them, you’d use that power for good, right? Mostly good, anyway? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Answer: Write what you know! The book opens in St. Louis, near where I grew up, and then spends part of the time in Denver, where I had friends live for a while. Even the gas station where Highway 70 just…ends in Utah is modeled on a real place I’ve been (and yes, it’s really weird when a major highway you’ve been on for a thousand miles comes to a T!). Might have thrown my town into the mix, just because I could, but won’t say which one! 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? That’s a really tough thing to answer because, for the most part, my heroine is too deadly to just casually ‘hang out with.’ She will kill you, even if she’s not trying to! But by the end…I mean, she does really like ice cream and her dogs. I think…
1–What is the title of your latest release? THE COLOR OF ICE 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Set in Iceland’s otherworldly landscape of glaciers and thermal lagoons, and framed by the magical art of glassblowing, The Color of Ice is the breathtaking story of a woman’s awakening to passion, beauty, and the redemptive power of unconditional love. And here’s a longer version if our elevator ride goes more than a floor or two: A woman’s carefully curated life is upended when she travels to Iceland to interview a charismatic glass artist who ignites a hunger in her for all the things she’s told herself she doesn’t need anymore. Passion. Vulnerability. Risk. Step by escalating step, she abandons the life she knows until she comes face-to-face with devastating choices she never could have foreseen. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I’d visited Iceland a few years earlier— simply as a tourist, with no intention of setting a novel there. But as I began to learn about glassblowing, I remembered the incredible blue icebergs of the Jokulsárlón lagoon in southern Iceland, and I had the idea that an artist might be…
