Erin Jade Lange | Author-Reader Match: MERE MORTALS

September 29, 2022

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Erin Jade Lange!

Writes:

Erin Jade Lange is the author of Mere Mortals as well as award-winning contemporary young adult novels: Butter, Dead Ends, Rebel Bully Geek Pariah, and The Chaos of Now. Her books have been published around the world, and her debut novel, Butter is now a feature film. Paranormal and contemporary worlds collide in her new release that puts a modern spin on the classic vampire tale. Two teenage vampires break an immortal law and, as punishment, are turned back into humans and forced to survive high school as MERE MORTALS.

About:

Erin is a recovering journalist with a passion for pop culture, travel, coffee and books. She is also an obsessive-compulsive list maker who can often be found adding tasks she has already completed to a list, solely for the satisfaction of crossing them off. As a mother of clones (identical twins), she has a growing interest in DNA science and science fiction. Erin grew up in the cornfields of northern Illinois, along the Mississippi River in one of the few places it flows east to west. She now lives in the sunshine of Arizona and will forever be torn between her love of rivers and her love of the desert.

The ideal reader for my new release, MERE MORTALS, agrees that:

  • Paranormal tales can have more humor than horror.
  • Sassy girls with confidence make better heroes than villains.
  • Wholesome boys from the heartland are swoon-worthy.
  • Cordelia was more fun than Buffy.
  • Places that feel like nowhere may turn out to be somewhere, and magic can happen anywhere.
  • Even vampires deserve a coming-of-age story.

If we’re a good match, by the end of MERE MORTALS, you will be:

  • Enamored of the town of Nowhere.
  • Rethinking the trope of the “old” teenage vampire.
  • Thirsty for a cup of coffee from a cozy, small-town coffee house.
  • Ready to hang up your Halloween decorations (if you haven’t already!)
  • Rooting for Charlie and her brother Reg to have the lives and loves they deserve.

MERE MORTALS by Erin Jade Lange

Mere Mortals

This hilarious, fresh take on a classic vampire tale follows a pair of hundred-year-old teenage vampires who are turned mortal and must face the greatest nightmare of all—high school.

Charlie and her brother, Reg, have been vampires for… a very long time. For a century, they enjoyed the glitz and glamour of life as members of the wealthiest vampire clan. But now, after one careless mistake, they’ve been expelled from the vampire community and dumped in the middle of Nowhere, Iowa to live as mortals.

Suddenly Charlie has to deal with zits, tears, and—worst of all—high school. But things start to change when she and Reg find a group of friends, including the deliciously good-looking Dexter. And though Charlie would give anything to be vampire again, she begins to appreciate some of the new experiences that humanity brings too.

But nothing could make them forget the life they’ve left behind. When they’re offered a second shot at immortality, Charlie is desperate to seize it. It’ll just mean a total betrayal of all her new friends, who will have their minds wiped of their memories of her. She can handle that if it means she can live forever… right?

Don’t miss this unique, laugh-out-loud funny novel by acclaimed author Erin Jade Lange!

About Erin Jade Lange

Erin Jade Lange

Erin writes facts by day and fiction by night. As a journalist, she is inspired by current events and real-world issues and uses her writing to explore how those issues impact teenagers. She is an only child, which means she spent a lot of time entertaining herself as a kid. This required her to rely heavily on her own imagination, which is probably why she became a writer. Erin grew up in the cornfields of northern Illinois, along the Mississippi River in one of the few places it flows east to west. She now lives in the sunshine of Arizona and will forever be torn between her love of rivers and her love of the desert. BUTTER is her first novel.
