What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
On the verge of being consumed by the darkness inside him, Gunther Janssen turns to the one woman who might save him… even if she fears him.
How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
This is the last book in the Cursed Kingdom Series, so the location was pretty much a given. The hero becomes the ruler of the Dark Realm, which is a gloomy place, full of torture and evil. I set this ugly dark realm in opposition to the human realm, which is in a small colorful village in Scotland.
Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Gunther is a troubled, tortured hero. At the same time, he is kind and does what he can to help others. I would love to hang out with him. Not sure what he would enjoy doing, maybe walking through modern day Netherlands, where he is originally from.
What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Resilient, Strong and Brave
What’s something you learned while writing this book?
I learned a lot about Dutch history. I’ve never written a hero from that area of the world. It was cool to learn about the kingdom back in the 1600s.
Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
Both, mostly as a write and then one last read through at the end.
What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Ice cream and Mexican Tamarind Candy
Describe your writing space/office!
I face a window, have bookshelves behind me and my crafting table and stuff to the right. It’s a cramped beautiful mess.
Who is an author you admire?
Wow, that’s a good question. Probably J.R. Ward. I love her!
Is there a book that changed your life?
Several have made me pause to think. The Shack, The Midnight Library and The Book of Lost Names.
Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
The first book I published with a small press was lackluster, but then I published with another publisher and my book Where the Four Winds Collide was their top seller for a couple months. That was amazing!
What’s your favorite genre to read?
Murder Mystery and Women’s fiction. I love writing historical, so I feel as if I already read it too!
What’s your favorite movie?
I’m not much of a movie watcher, but probably Moonstruck and The Avenger Movies that deal with the Infinity Stones
What is your favorite season?
Hands down Autumn!!
How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
Usually meet friends for celebration lunch. Hubby and I don’t really do much for our birthdays.
What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
I love the Grantchester series on Prime.
What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Authentic Mexican food and Korean
What do you do when you have free time?
I have a couple fun hobbies; junk journaling and decorative planning top the list.

THE LAST KNIGHT. After that, a new series, not named yet, that takes place in late 1600s Scotland.
