Excerpt from THE BATTLE FOR HEAVEN AND EARTH: A BIBLICAL NOVEL OF LUCIFER’S FALL AND THE GARDEN OF EDEN by Mark M. Yarbrough and Jerry B. Jenkins:

Holy, holy, holy is the One

Who was and is and is to come.

Glory, glory to the highest King.

All of Heaven lifts its song and sings.

Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord,

Forever worthy, ever adored.

As the song continued, Lucifer stewed. He yielded to a jealous anger and let it boil. The countless choruses of devotion lathered him in bitterness. The choir, now bowing before God, sang their final refrain:

From the throne till the end of time,

Your love resounds unbroken, true.

We cry aloud with endless joy,

All praise, all life, all things to You.

Finally!Lucifer thought as the throne room grew quiet. Finally, that song is over. He conjured venom from deep inside and voiced aloud his grand plan, knowing it would forever change everything.

“I am no longer a mere servant of the Most High!” he roared. “Rather, I am His equal—a ruler in my own right, commanding legions I have called upon who desire to serve me!”

Alarmed looks flashed between Michael and Gabriel and among multitudes of loyal angels.

God Himself spoke calmly. “Lucifer, say what you have to say.”

“Oh, I don’t need Your permission, but I’ll do just that. Angels of light, have we not served faithfully day and night? Are we not worthy of a greater destiny than mere servitude? I choose to bow no longer before a God who binds us in chains of adoration. Follow me!”

Lucifer had carefully chosen his minions, but the rest—including General Sǎr—seemed to gasp as one as Lucifer’s visage changed. His wings, long a symbol of divine beauty, darkened and twisted, and his once-glorious jewels dulled, as did the light of his being. Lucifer knew God had somehow tarnished him, but he was more than fine with that. He would wear his new look as a badge of honor.

From the throne, the Lord spoke, and Lucifer found himself thrilled at the sorrow in His voice. “You once represented My seal of perfection, full of prudence and allure. But you have breached your wisdom and corrupted your beauty for the sake of your own splendor. You. Have. Sinned. You have transgressed My holiness and dishonored My love for you.”

This so-called Holy One is saying I have become less, not more. He’ll regret that!Lucifer basked in the attention as all eyes turned to him, and he bellowed, “Now!”

Immediately, angels now loyal to him deployed, soaring to surround him and shrilly cry out their support for him, while others waiting outside the sacred halls also shouted their allegiance to Lucifer.

Delightful! The melodious worship has turned dissonant, and all because of me.

And with that, he fled the room, still encircled by his minions.

THE BATTLE FOR HEAVEN AND EARTH: A BIBLICAL NOVEL OF LUCIFER’S FALL AND THE GARDEN OF EDEN by Jerry B. Jenkins, Mark M. Yarbrough

battle

In the beginning‑‑before Earth, before humanity, before sin‑‑there was Heaven. And it was perfect.

This is the story of creation as you’ve never imagined it.

Once united in worship and purpose, the angelic realm is shaken when Lucifer‑‑the most beautiful and exalted of all‑‑questions the authority of God Himself. What begins as subtle pride soon ignites into open rebellion.

As loyalties fracture and one‑third of Heaven’s hosts defect, Michael the Archangel is thrust into a role he never imagined: commander of God’s army in a war that was never supposed to erupt. Friendship turns to enmity. Worship becomes warfare. And Heaven itself becomes a battlefield.

From the first spark of dissonance to the thunder of celestial combat, this sweeping epic explores the origin of evil and the agonizing cost of free will. With vivid imagination rooted in deep biblical truth, witness darkness rising against the very throne of God . . . and the divine plan that refuses to be undone, one that stretches from the creation of a new world to a garden paradise, and a fall that echoes through all of human history.

This is not just the story of a rebellion.

It is the story of why it mattered.

And why it still does.
