Seressia Glass | Adversaries Become Allies Then Become Friends, and Common Ground Could Lead to More

January 10, 2024

1–What is the title of your latest release?

GAME ON

2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

Gamer Samara “ReyofSun” Reynolds calls out Artemis Games’ flagship game for problematic content. Brining receipts, she challenges them to do better. CEO Aron Galanis takes up that challenge then makes Samara an offer she can’t refuse – affect change on the inside. Adversaries become allies then become friends, and common ground could lead to something more.

3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I’m a native Atlantan, so I like to set all my books in my hometown. We have a great diversity of neighborhoods here.

4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

I would absolutely hang out with Samara and her friends!

5–What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Actually, I can use the same words to describe Aron and Samara: smart, passionate, and dedicated.

6–What’s something you learned while writing this book?

On a personal level, I learned that you can write alone but not in a vacuum; that struggling can be more than simple writer’s block; and it’s okay to ask for help.

7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I edit as I draft, which makes me a slower writer. I’m going to fast draft then edit in 2024. Wish me luck!

8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Pho. I would eat it every day if I could!

9–Describe your writing space/office!

It’s my purple haven! My office has light purple walls, and my desk, bookcases, and coffee bar are white. I have a purple fridge next to the coffee bar, a purple coffeemaker, and a purple shredder. Of course, my mouse, keyboard, and other accessories are also purple. Above the bookcases is a large sign that says “Inspire” and I have other affirmations on the other walls.

10–Who is an author you admire?

Beverly Jenkins celebrates 30 years as a published author this year. She writes excellent stories, mentor newer writers, and engages with her fans like a family.

11–Is there a book that changed your life?

Octavia Butler’s Patternmaster. She absolutely broke ground with her stories.

12–Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

My call was actually a letter. I was driving from Georgia to South Carolina for training when my boyfriend called to say I got a letter from a publisher. I assumed it was a rejection letter until he said it was thick. After asking him to open it he read the first line, “We’re pleased to inform you…” I started screaming in my car – it was a fantastic feeling! Even all these years later, whether it’s a phone call or an email from my agent, getting the green light on a project is always amazing!

13–What’s your favorite genre to read?

I started with reading fantasy and science fiction before discovering romance. Paranormal romance is my go-to. I love the different worlds and the different beings that inhabit them.

14–What’s your favorite movie?

Actually, it’s a Chinese drama series called The Untamed – action, drama, paranormal elements, and a good love story.

15–What is your favorite season?

I love spring and fall, but since fall doesn’t bury me in murderous, fluorescent green snow, I love Fall more.

16–How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I’m low key these days. I have a day of pampering at the spa, get something purple, and have a good dinner.

17–What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Tale of the Nine-Tailed: 1938 was excellent – action, adventure and a great bromance.

18–What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

That’s a hard one since I’ve only had Americanized versions of most cuisines. I have favorites in most: lechon asada, chicken tikka masala, pho, Mongolian beef, fried chicken, etc.

19–What do you do when you have free time?

Sleep! But really, my free time is spent watching Viki or Crunchyroll, with some Netflix thrown in.

20–What can readers expect from you next?

A smart, sexy heroine getting the HEA she deserves.

GAME ON by Seressia Glass

Game On

When an unexpected Player Two enters her life, a gamer must decide if their relationship is worth leveling up in this new romance from the author of The Love Con.

Samara Reynolds has built a large following as a gamer under an anonymous screen name, and uses her skills as a DEIA consultant to advocate for equal representation in video games. When she posted a video critiquing the popular game Legendsfall, she knew she’d get a reaction from her fans, but the video leads to hundreds of female gamers critiquing the game and its company, Artemis Games. The only thing more unexpected than starting an online movement is getting a job offer from the handsome CEO of Artemis.

Aron Galanis has been on a mission to get his company certified to create gaming content for people with disabilities. When he sees Artemis trending online for all the wrong reasons, he’s determined to right his wrongs and offers the originator a mea culpa, as well as a job offer to overhaul the character options in Legendsfall.

Working together turns Aron and Samara from adversaries into allies, allies into friends, and after that—something more. But once their relationship goes public, will Aron and Samara be able to weather the storm and fight for their happy ending, or is it game over?
