Ali Brady | Two former best friends reunite at their childhood summer camp
Author Guest / July 9, 2024

1–What is the title of your latest release? UNTIL NEXT SUMMER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Two former best friends reunite at their childhood summer camp for a nostalgic adults-only camp before it closes for good, where they rebuild their friendship, re-experience all their favorite camp memories, and each find love. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? We’ve been excited about setting a book at a summer camp ever since our first novel, THE BEACH TRAP, which opened with a flashback scene to Camp Chickawah, where our main characters met as kids. Readers loved that scene, and we decided we’d love to set an entire book at a camp—except make it an adult camp so there can be sexy scenes and adult beverages! We set the camp’s location in Minnesota because that’s where Alison went to summer camp when she was a kid. Alison’s dad helped us come up with the name of the camp—Camp Chickawah was the camp he attended as a child! 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Yes! We have two main characters: Jessie the camp director, and Hillary who returns to camp after…

Jennifer Vido | Jen’s Jewels Interview: THE COMEBACK SUMMER by Ali Brady
Author Guest , Jen's Jewels / May 31, 2023

Jennifer Vido: You’re back with another fabulous beach read! What inspired your new release, THE COMEBACK SUMMER? Ali Brady: We each have a younger sister (coincidentally, both are named Elizabeth!) and one day, we were discussing how in a family, you seem to get slated into a specific role during childhood and it can be difficult to break out of those roles as adults. We wanted to write about the beautiful, complex, and challenging relationship of sisterhood—and how those roles we play in childhood shape us for the rest of our lives. From there, we created the characters of Hannah and Libby, two sisters who are best friends, roommates, and business partners. They love each other, but they’re perhaps a little too codependent and enmeshed in their roles, and in THE COMEBACK SUMMER, they learn to break out of those roles and follow their own paths.   Jen: What’s happening in the sisters’ lives, throwing them into a tailspin? Ali: Hannah and Libby are running their late grandmother’s PR agency, which has been losing clients since she passed away. As the story opens, they’ve just lost their last big client, and are worried that they might have to close the…

Ali Brady | Sisterhood, Challenges, and Love
Author Guest / May 9, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE COMEBACK SUMMER 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Sisters Libby and Hannah are trying to save their late grandmother’s PR agency by wooing a potential big client – an eccentric self-help guru named Lou. In order to win Lou’s business, the sisters must take one of her “Crush Your Comfort Zone” challenges. Shy Hannah must go on 12 first dates with 12 strangers and Libby (who is allergic to exercise) must train for and compete in a public, athletic activity. The sisters help each other through their challenges – but things get complicated when Hannah’s first love tries to win her back, and Libby falls for one of the guys she’s supposed to be setting up for her sister. Can they save their company, and more importantly, their relationship? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Our last book took place in Destin, Florida, and readers really loved the beachy vibes. For The Comeback Summer, we wanted to find a city that had a beach, but also had a bigger professional market since our sisters run a PR agency. Chicago fit the bill—and it…
