Hello, I’m Diane Alberts (though I also write as Jen McLaughlin) and I’m here today because I had a new book come out this week called An Accidental Date with a Billionaire. It’s the first in a new series of standalone books, and in case you didn’t guess it by the title, the heroine accidentally bids on the wrong bachelor after promising her best friend that she will “save” her brother from being bought by a woman he doesn’t know. The problem is, Sam has never actually met her best friend’s brother, and instead of saving him she accidentally ends up with a very expensive date with Taylor (our hot, wealthy hero). One of the things I enjoy most about writing and reading romance is the moment when the hero or heroine knows—they just know—that there’s something about the hero/heroine that is…different. They might not fully understand what that is, or what that means, but instinctively they can sense that there is something about him/her that is going to threaten the chaos/organization/normalcy of their lives as they know it. Maybe it’s the first kiss, maybe it’s when their eyes first lock across the room, or maybe it’s after the first…

With October comes Halloween, and with Halloween comes… SCARY MOVIES. * dun dun dun * Even though I rarely watch them anymore, I thought it would be fun to tell you about my top five scary movies that made me not want to watch scary movies anymore. 13 Ghosts. I don’t know why, but this movie MESSED me up. I was so scared after seeing this, and I still, to this day, get nervous when I go into a dark bathroom. I always look at the bathtub and picture that woman all drenched in blood staring at me. Shudders The original. I don’t even remember it, or much about it, but I know I watched it as a kid, and ever since I hate clowns. Always have. Always will. Pet Semetery. Dead pets coming to life and attacking people? Yeah. No thanks. I’ll pass. The Shining. Red-rum. Red-rum. Yeah, I’ll red-run my ass outta that hotel, thank you very much! The Ring. Yep, that one got me, too. I have a new book out with Entangled Publishing (Entangled Brazen), and it’s the second book in my Shillings Agency series. The first book was TEMPORARILY YOURS, which I also blogged about a few months ago! I’m thrilled to be back, and talking about the second book in the series (which is loosely tied with FALLING FOR THE GROOMSMAN, which came out in June). So, when I first starting writing my newest release, STEALING HIS HEART, I knew one thing right off the bat. My heroine would not be a simpering heroine, nor would she be completely legal. In fact, she’s a thief. To top it off, she’s actually a modern day Robin Hood, with a dash of Sherlock in her for good measure. I knew, right away, that an obstacle I would face is making her thieving something that a reader could accept. Because it’s a lot harder to accept flaws in our heroines than it is in our heroes. With our heroes, all they have to do is say one charming phrase here, a scorching kiss there, and…
