LaQuette Interview – RomComs and Strong Female Characters
Author Guest / September 20, 2022

Tell me about Vanessa’s “Savvy, Sexy, Singles Club” in VANESSA JARED’S GOT A MAN. Vanessa Jared’s Got A Man is about a forty-something divorcee, Vanessa Jared, who’s trying to figure out what’s next in life after she’s put the trauma of an abusive and toxic relationship behind her.  She’s spent so long being defined as someone’s wife that her sole focus is figuring out who she is now and what she wants to do next.   From the book’s description, Vanessa seems like a strong woman who goes after what she wants. What attributes do you like adding to your female protagonists? And what makes a good male counterpart? I like writing about women who understand their value and move through the world with confidence. Vanessa is relearning her value as she heals from the emotional abuse her ex heaped on her. When we meet her, she’s figured out her worth, but just doesn’t know what the next step is in creating a meaningful life for herself.   How would you describe the dynamic between Vanessa and the sheriff hottie? Fiyah! Vanessa and Michael are instantly attracted to one another, even if neither of them wants to admit it. Beside…

Absolutely.  She’s confident, successful, and fashionable.  We’d have loads of fun talking shoes and purses. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Nurturing, loyal, passionate 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That even when you do the wrong thing, there’s always a chance to do better. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? LaQuette | Exclusive Interview: JACKSON
Author Guest / January 26, 2021

Hi, LaQuette! We are thrilled to have you on Fresh Fiction today. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.  Hello, thank you so much for having me.  I’m a Brooklynite, and I love writing emotionally gripping, sexy stories featuring multicultural characters living their best lives.     JACKSON is the first book in your new Restoration Ranch series. Will you set up the basic premise for this series and a little bit about JACKSON?  A woman, who is sponsoring two parolees as they work to rebuild her family’s ranch, is being threatened by an unknown person.  To find out who’s trying to bring her harm, the Texas Rangers show up to investigate.  Restoration Ranch is a place where everyone can find redemption, family, and love.  I loved the idea of people having a place to lay down their burdens to find help, support, and a safe space to rebuild so they could have a second chance at life. I love the opposites attract vibes between Jackson and Aja. How much fun did you have creating these two characters and their love story? What surprised you while writing this book?    Aja and Jackson were a hoot to write.  Although I…
