Lisa Dale | Sometimes a Cliche is a Perfect Setting…
Author Guest / April 2, 2011

Dear Reader, There are only three little days until my new book, SLOW DANCING ON PRICE’S PIER, arrives on the shelves! Years and years ago, I worked at an independent coffee shop in New Jersey. It was a busy shop that always smelled fantastic. The baristas were quirky and fun. The coffee was fresh and hot. The customers knew us by name. And yes—the clichés about writers-artists-baristas are true! When it was time for me to choose a backdrop for a new love story, I couldn’t think of any place more perfect than a coffee shop. (If you don’t know about the history of coffee, pick up my book. I promise you’ll never look at a cup of Joe the same way again.) And to make things extra romantic, I decided to set my heroine’s coffee shop on a busy pier at the water’s edge in Newport, Rhode Island. Here’s the story: Fifteen years ago, Garret Sorensen’s family, trust, and heart were destroyed when Thea Celik betrayed him and married his brother. Now they are divorcing. Garret’s ready to finally mend his relationship with his brother. But being back in Newport, Rhode Island, triggers a lot of memories—all leading back…

Lisa Dale | What Inspires You?
Uncategorized / July 31, 2009

Many people ask me where I get my ideas for my books. Sometimes, there’s no other answer except that inspiration falls into my lap like a star falls from the sky. For example, on the night that I got “the call” from my agent that my first book, SIMPLE WISHES, would be published, I couldn’t fall asleep. I sat on the couch in my little apartment, and since there was nothing to do, I just turned on the television and vegged out until the wee hours. As I was watching the Discovery channel, a show came on about meteorite hunters—folks who collect and then sell meteorites. It was like I got struck by lightning. I knew then and there that the hero in my next book would be a hunter of meteorites. I’ve always had a thing for nerd guys. The end result was that in my new book, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, which comes out in late October, the hero is a sexy, science geek type. The book is about two sisters who own a wildflower farm in Vermont. Lana Biel longs to leave Vermont so she can travel and see the world. And her sister Karin wants nothing…

Lisa Dale | Real love, real characters, real drama

Hello! Lisa Dale and my first book, Simple Wishes, debuted early this year. I’d love to give away a copy of the book today. Keep reading and let me know if you’re interested! I don’t know about you, but I tend to be the kind of person who’s fascinated by nearly everything. I’ve always got my nose in a book, and when I go to the dentist, I drive the hygienist crazy with all my questions about what machine does what. That’s probably why my first novel lumps some seemingly unrelated elements together into one story: bluegrass, woodworking, sex education, Korean historical soap opera, happily-ever-after…it’s all there.
