1–What is the title of your latest release? WALK THE DARK 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? An intimate and empathetic portrayal of the imprisoned, Walk the Dark goes behind the walls of a maximum-security prison in upstate New York, and into the life of a man who was convicted of murder when he was just seventeen years old. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I taught for two years in Auburn Prison, and always thought I’d set a book inside the prison, which is one of the oldest maximum-security prisons still in use in the U.S. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Maybe. I’d certainly enjoy talking with him. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Scarred, lonely, decent. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That I had to dig deep into my own life to understand this character. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I wait until it’s done. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
