A mother risks everything to save her son while a man risks everything to protect her. If you could meet one of your characters in real life, who would you choose and what would you do? I would love to meet Alisha, the main character in my The Second Wife series. She both inspires and fascinates me at the same time. I would love to just hang out with her at her ranch. Maybe we could have tea, meet her family, hang out with the animals in her orchard, anything she would want to do. What gets your creative juices flowing when you’re brainstorming a new story? Music is a major source of inspiration for me. I have always found myself moved by the emotions embedded in the lyrics, in the singer’s inflections, and the melody. Sometimes, all it takes is a single…

If you could meet one of your characters in real life, who would you choose and what would you do? The character I would choose would be Tawana Batiste from A HOUSE DIVIDED, and what I would do is tell her to buck up and get with the program! What gets your creative juices flowing when you’re brainstorming a new story? The most important thing that gets my creative juices flowing is a perfect book title and finding pictures of the main characters. Which part of Readers & ‘ritas are you most excited about?  I look forward to meeting all the readers who are coming…

If you could meet one of your characters in real life, who would you choose and what would you do? Brodie, from DRIVEN TO DISTRACTION, because he’s my new fave alpha who’s also crazy sexy, loves his family and animals, and is cocky to the extreme. I’d sit in the local bar, Freddie’s, and chat him up about life and his no-holds-barred perspectives on what’s right and wrong. What gets your creative juices flowing when you’re brainstorming a new story? My favorite part of any of my stories is the hero. I love, respect, and admire good men and enjoy “listening” as they tell me their stories so I can get them written. Which part of Readers…

Meet Bridget Blackwood at Readers & ‘ritas in November!
Author Spotlight / October 3, 2017

As part of our countdown to Readers & ‘ritas 2017, our Meet theAuthor interview series helps you get to know the authors joining us in Texas on November 10-12. Read on to get acquainted with author Bridget Blackwood, and purchase your tickets to meet her in person at Readers &‘ritas! What book made you fall in love with the genre you write? Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It was the first time I’d ever read a paranormal romance with such a large world building scope. It was amazing and I wanted more, easily devouring the next dozen Dark- Hunter books. If a movie were made of your most recent book, who would you cast in the lead and why? Dove Cameron would be a great Ianthe (from LOST IN PARADISE, the latest in my World in Shadows series). I’ve seen her play a variety of characters and she always nails the performance like she was born for it. I think she’d be able to portray Ianthe’s fierceness through her vulnerability she wears like armor. She’s very beautiful and younger looking, which lends credit to the deadly allure of Sirens. Sam Claflin is my pick for the male lead. Zander comes…

Read on to get acquainted with New York Times bestselling author Laura Kaye, and purchase your tickets to meet her in person at Readers & ‘ritas! What book made you fall in love with the genre you write? I think I’d have to go with a series, and it would be J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It had everything I love: intense romance and chemistry, amazing heroes, bromance and brotherhood, strong women, humor (so much humor!), and vampires! If a movie were made of your most recent book, who would you cast in the lead and why? For my erotic strangers-to-lovers romance, EYES ON YOU, I would cast an older Alex Pettyfer as Master Wolf Henrikson and Love Actually’s Martine McCutcheon as Olivia Foster. What was the first story you ever wrote? I wrote stories as a teenager, and I can specifically remember writing a paranormal retelling of The Secret Garden and a fictional time travel story called Peter Saves the Czar, about a teenager who goes back in time…
