BARBARIAN’S TOUCH by Ruby Dixon Berkley Trade Paperback Exclusive Excerpt It’s so cold. I feel like all I do now is complain about the weather, but being in the yeti cave hasn’t prepared me for being out in the snow again at night. It’s dark out, but the twin moons (yep, there are two of them, too) are gleaming bright on the snow and I can see around us. The yeti have disappeared, and Rowdan’s taking me up one ridge and then down another. On and on he goes, powering through knee-high snow like it’s nothing. His tail has wrapped protectively around one of my thighs, but I don’t point out just how, um, impolitely it’s gripping me. After rescuing my ass? He can put his tail anywhere he wants. I squeeze my thighs tighter around his waist, blushing at my own thoughts. I’m clinging to him from behind, piggyback style, and every time his tail moves, it rubs against my butt. Add that to the fact that my chest won’t stop with the weird purring—and he’s doing it, too—and I figure all this movement and vibration must be why I’m feeling so horny. Or maybe it’s adrenaline after…
When I return to my new cave with supplies, the main cavern hums with happy voices. The others have arrived, and the sound of happy chatter is a constant hum in the air. I think Rukh and his mate Har-loh—who live at the elders’ cave more often than not—have the right of it. With everyone returning, there will be faces everywhere and no privacy. This thing between Jo-see and I will play out before all. At the thought, another surge of fierce possessiveness rises in me. Whatever she may think, she is mine. Jo-see is standing in the cave when I return, her pack at her feet. My khui immediately begins a pounding beat in my chest at the sight of her, and my blood pulses hard with the need to claim her. But her face is drawn and tired, her small shoulders hunched with exhaustion. Her khui starts to sing to mine and she looks down at her chest, confused, then jumps with surprise when I set my bundle down. “What are you doing here?” Her small human brows draw together. “They said this is my cave.” “The cave you will share with me,” I agree, keeping my tone…
Book Title: VALKYRIE, The Avian Clone Chronicles – Book 1 Character Name: Valkyrie How would you describe your family or your childhood? My early childhood was reasonably happy. I was brought up on Orpheseus Prime by the human female who gave birth to me. Things went seriously downhill after I was separated from her. You see, I am not a normal human man. I am a genetically manipulated avian clone. I have wings and can fly, and I also have extraordinarily keen hearing and eyesight. My memory could be described as photographic. I do not forget anything, the good experiences or the bad. What was your greatest talent? I can hack into all but the most highly encrypted databases and computer systems. Significant other? That would hopefully be the outcome of this story, would it not? Zia, a lovely Mordrial woman who was once a resident of the Palace Orphanage and is now one of the caregivers there, has come to me for help in solving her sister’s murder. I find myself strongly attracted to Zia, who affects me in a way that no female ever has. Biggest challenge in relationships? Trust, which is possibly the…

1. What is the title of your latest release? THE PRINCESS AND THE BRUISER 2. What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Fleeing an arranged marriage to an infamously mysterious prince, a runaway princess with dangerous powers must convince the surly head of security aboard an interstellar pleasure cruise to hide her out on his ship until she can escape—preferably before she gets found out, gets too used to her freedom, or ends up falling for her great big grumpy bodyguard. 3. How did you decide where your book was going to take place? This is the third book that takes place aboard the interstellar pleasure cruise ship the Ignisar. I grew up with a mother who watched Star Trek, took me to see Star Wars when I was one, and was always reading a Dune book, so sci-fi is in my blood. I loved the idea of a Love Boat type situation among the stars. This book takes a deep dive into the Royal Houses of the twin planets of the Aquilines, Rax’s (our MMC) home planet. It takes place partially off-ship on the smaller planet of the Aquilines as well as on our beloved pleasure…

My next book is WED TO THE ALIEN WARLORD and comes out in July! 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Earth sold me and my crew out for tech- and the scarred alien who hand-picked me to wed is the scariest of them all. Great. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I love the abduction trope, so I knew I wanted it to take place on an alien planet, but I wanted to put a spin on who’s fault the abduction is. 4–Would you hang out with your heroine in real life? Absolutely- she’s brave and funny with a big heart. 5–What are three words that describe your hero? Kind, honest, and sexy! 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? Moore’s Law, which is basically an observation based theory on how fast technology advances —at an exponential rate— and then applied that to what would happen to human society if introduced to advanced alien tech. 7–Do you edit as you draft…
