Julia London | Conversations in Character with Nora November
Author Guest / June 14, 2024

Book Title: NICE WORK, NORA NOVEMBER Character Name: Nora November   How would you describe your family or your childhood? My sister and I never lacked for anything but affection. My parents were hard on me. I always thought it was because I was a twin who survived. My twin brother died of SIDS when we were 9 months old, and I have long had the impression they resented me in some way for surviving. I was close to my sister Lacey and my grandparents, but home life was strict and full of impossible expectations we were expected to live up to.   What was your greatest talent? I always thought it was basketball until I picked up a ball as an adult and discovered I’m not the legend that lives in my mind. I think now my greatest talent is baking.   Significant other? Unfortunately, no. I’m kind of stuck on a guy I met during a botched robbery. We were held hostage in a utility closet and as strange as it sounds, we hit it off. We exchanged numbers at the end of the night, but neither of us ever called. I consider him to be the one…

Kerry Lonsdale | Exclusive Excerpt FIND ME IN CALIFORNIA
Author Guest / June 14, 2024

Find Me in California by Kerry Lonsdale, excerpt   Matt glares at the departures screen as a heavy curtain of rain drenches the airport. Lightning flashes and thunder rumbles, shaking the building. Visibility is shit. All flights have been delayed or canceled, including his. Even if he catches a later flight with a connection in Phoenix or Las Vegas, depending on the delay, he won’t get into Burbank until late tonight. His head pounds furiously at this massive inconvenience. He searches for flights on his app. He could fly out tomorrow, which would get him to Rosemont after 4:00 p.m., but he loses a day in the process. Or—he pulls up a map—he could drive. It’s twelve hours to Pasadena. Eleven or less given how he drives. He’d arrive by midnight, crash at a hotel, and be at Rosemont first thing in the morning, giving him and Elizabeth the entire day to coordinate her affairs and—he can’t believe he’s thinking this—talk about his mom. And what’s up with appointing him as her secondary? Barring hiccups, he could be back in Santa Fe by midnight Monday. He’d have all Tuesday to work on the Ford assignment. That’s a shit ton of…

Carrie Anne Noble | Welcome to the Igelwald
Author Guest / June 13, 2024

Welcome to the Igelwald, a lush, enchanted forest nestled in the mountains of Germany—and the former home of the gingerbread-house-dwelling witch who caused my brother Hansel and I quite a lot of trouble once upon a time. As you might expect, the Igelwald is thick with familiar trees: oak and elm, spruce and pine, beech and ash—to name but a handful. But growing among these are also trees unclassified by humankind, trees with slick, black bark or silver, serrated leaves. Some trees whisper as you pass. If you venture deeply enough into the landscape, you might even happen upon an astonishing grove of trees from which colorful cuckoo clocks dangle like fruit. These clocks hoot out discordant opinions of the hour, a sound which you might find jarring but will cause no lasting harm to your hearing or soul. Sparkling brooks bubble and meander through the landscape. Their clear appearance and relaxing babbling invite closer inspection, but drinking from them ought to be avoided. There are many fairy folk about who delight in tainting the forest’s waters. A wandering human might slake their thirst for a time but end up bedeviled by a ceaseless longing to drink from the selfsame…

J.G. Sauer | Interview with Immortals Isadora “Dory” Winthrop and Kaden Crenshaw
Author Guest / June 13, 2024

Book: IMMORTAL ASCENDING By J.G. SAUER Subject: Interview with Immortals Isadora “Dory” Winthrop and Kaden Crenshaw   Immortal Times Interviewer, Neve McMillian (A bit flustered): Oh my gosh! I just want to say what an honor it is for me to have this time with the most famous and revered individuals in our Immortal world. I know our IT readers are going to be thrilled with this interview. Dory: That’s very kind of you to say, Neve. But please call me Dory. Isadora is from another lifetime and makes me feel as old as I am. Neve: Well, you look fabulous for your three-plus centuries. And Chosen One as well. We’re going to get into your history and how that happened in a bit. But first, welcome to you, too, Kaden Crenshaw. Fairly new Immortal and Chosen Warrior. Now that you have a few years as an Immortal under your belt, how are you adapting? Dory: Oh, please. He’s adapting just fine. I’m having a hard time keeping up with Mr. Chosen Warrior here. (She grins at Kaden.) Kaden: (He winks at her.) Jealous much, love? (Dory rolls her eyes.) Kaden: I will say, Neve, after my initial shock of…

Florence A. Bliss | Author-Reader Match: TAKEN BY HIS SWORD
Author Guest / June 13, 2024

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Florence A. Bliss!   Writes: Seductive historical romance that is sexy, bold, and can go all night.   About: 40-something female author with two kids, one dog, and a fancy Italian husband, seeking equally overworked, stressed, and ambitious reader. Looking for a woman (or man, hey there are sword fighting scenes) who needs an escape into a sensual fictional world. I write powerful women who are still vulnerable and alpha heroes who like to cause trouble. My debut novel TAKEN BY HIS SWORD is a steamy adventure full of grit, wit, and getting down by the fireplace.   What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match: Someone who loves a compelling narrative but wants spicy bits that ring the bell. You want the HEA, but you want the path there to be twisty and uncertain. You love the added social constraints of historicals, which make the dirty parts even more dirty. You are an avid romance reader -OR- You are a reader, sneaking…

Ruth Bonapace | A Tour of What I Think of as “My Great Adventure”
Author Guest / June 12, 2024

Hi, I’m Tina and I’m the only person in this book I trust to give you the full, honest-to-goodness tour of what I think of as My Great Adventure. First, where I grew up: a city near Manhattan, which is about 20 minutes by bus but might as well be 1,000 miles away. Known “The Heights,” it’s not Jersey City’s fancy schmancy historic district but also not the poor section. Just kinda invisible, with salt-of-the-earth people like my grandma in vinyl sided houses, stacked next to each other, plastic flowers on the stoop. Dunkin Donuts at the corner was my hangout, and Burger King my go-to lunch until, of course, I got the Bulgarian Training Manual and changed my eating habits. The catalyst to this change happened at Supreme Physique, a no-frills gym near grandma’s house with decent equipment – the usual bikes, treadmills, bench presses – and people from all walks of life, including a bunch of hard-core wannabe body builders who thought they were God’s gift. The manager would tape “before and after” photos on the walls and pages ripped from muscle magazines. Another important place for me was the laundromat. I’d hang out, fold clothes, my way…

Namrata Patel | A Woman’s Ambitions Clash with Familial Expectations
Author Guest / June 12, 2024

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE CURIOUS SECRETS OF YESTERDAY 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A woman’s ambitions clash with familial expectations. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted to ensure the setting reflected the arc of the novel where Salem, MA was one thing originally (known historically for intolerance) to becoming a place that is home to people who live their authentic lives. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. Though I would try to give her a lot of advice and push her to do more. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Restless. Conflicted. Unfulfilled 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I did a lot of research on Ayurveda and how this ancient science has been co-opted to fit within a western framing. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? I need to write the novel first before revising. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Panna Cotta with fruit 9–Describe your writing space/office! It’s a small desk with a laptop and a notebook. My creativity thrives in minimalist settings. 10–Who is an…

Susan Weissbach Friedman | Conversations in Character with Dr. Klara Lieberman
Author Guest / June 12, 2024

How would you describe your family or childhood? I don’t like to talk about my childhood or my family very much. My father, who I loved very much, left when I was six years old, and I never heard from him again. My mother and maternal grandfather raised me, and they were both cold, elusive, unhappy people. I withdrew into myself and delved into many good books and my academic studies.   What was your greatest talent? My greatest talent was being a very good student. I was smart, but I also studied all the time. I knew by the time I started high school that this would be my ticket out of my family’s grip, and I was determined to graduate in three years rather than four.   Significant Other? For a very long time, I had no significant other to speak of, just short-term relationships, but as you know, I met Filip Jablonsky, and we’ve now been together ever since. We’re in a devoted relationship and he’s a pivotal part of my life.   Biggest Challenge in Relationship? The biggest challenge in my relationship with Filip and with all others is my Achilles heel of not trusting anyone…
