A woman’s ambitions clash with familial expectations. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted to ensure the setting reflected the arc of the novel where Salem, MA was one thing originally (known historically for intolerance) to becoming a place that is home to people who live their authentic lives. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Absolutely. Though I would try to give her a lot of advice and push her to do more. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Restless. Conflicted. Unfulfilled 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I did a lot of research on Ayurveda and how this ancient science has been co-opted to fit within a western framing. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? How would you describe your family or childhood? I don’t like to talk about my childhood or my family very much. My father, who I loved very much, left when I was six years old, and I never heard from him again. My mother and maternal grandfather raised me, and they were both cold, elusive, unhappy people. I withdrew into myself and delved into many good books and my academic studies. What was your greatest talent? My greatest talent was being a very good student. I was smart, but I also studied all the time. I knew by the time I started high school that this would be my ticket out of my family’s grip, and I was determined to graduate in three years rather than four. Significant Other? For a very long time, I had no significant other to speak of, just short-term relationships, but as you know, I met Filip Jablonsky, and we’ve now been together ever since. We’re in a devoted relationship and he’s a pivotal part of my life. Biggest Challenge in Relationship? The biggest challenge in my relationship with Filip and with all others is my Achilles heel of not trusting anyone…

Childhood best friends fake date and use the hero’s fame to help save the heroines struggling business. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I was born and raised in Providence and the city always feels like it has a little bit of magic to me, so most of my books are based there or in surrounding cities. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Yes. Laniah and I would be out here fighting for our life trying to run a mile around the neighborhood or bringing a low sodium meal to the beach to watch the sunset while listening to music and partaking in light gossip. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? courageous, reticent, determined (sometimes these traits work against each other) 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned that no matter how many times I read something I can still cry over it. This book…
Book Title: THE QUEEN’S FAITHFUL COMPANION Character Name: Susan, the Queen’s corgi How would you describe your family or your childhood? My very earliest memories are cuddling into the litter, snuggling with my siblings, until one day I met a King. The King took me home to my Lilibet, who loved me to the moon and back. She told me all of her secrets, and took me on hikes through the wilds, indulging my penchant for squirrel and bird chasing. The best part was, even when she found her other half, she still snuck me on her honeymoon, and insisted I go with her everywhere. What was your greatest talent? I am quite a fast runner. No one would guess with these short legs, but I’ve got speed. But I think perhaps my greatest talent, was my ability to calm my princess who became a queen. Significant other? They bred me a couple of times, but I don’t consider Lucky Strike a significant other. The most important person in my life was Lilibet. Biggest challenge in relationships? Well… I’m a bit jealous, and don’t like to share. Philip was always trying to share my Lilibet, and…

Book Title: THE LETTERS WE KEEP Character Name: Jessie and Ravi How would you describe your family or your childhood? JESSIE: I have the best parents. They tried to give me all the best experiences and childhood memories they could even though they didn’t have a lot of money. They have a small sandwich shop, so I spent most of my time in the back booth doing homework and talking to my Dad who used to be an engineer. RAVI: Do I have to do this? JESSIE: Come on, Ravi, it can’t be THAT bad. You’re literally famous. RAVI: Fine. My childhood was filled with Indian auntie nannies because my father’s family became super rich off of some patents and now, I’m supposed to go work with them. JESSIE: Maybe with a little more pep? We’re trying to sell our story here. RAVI: Fine. I used to ski in the Alps during the winter and went to Paris for my sixteenth birthday. JESSIE: Better. What was your greatest talent? JESSIE: I almost won the state spelling bee when I was twelve! RAVI: That’s cute. JESSIE: Are you making fun of me? RAVI: No, I mean it. That’s cute….

1–What is the title of your latest release? HALL OF MIRRORS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? In 1954, mystery novelist Lionel Kane witnesses his DC apartment engulfed in flames with his lover and writing partner, Roger Raymond, inside. Police declare it a suicide, but he refuses to believe Roger was suicidal. Weeks earlier, Judy Nightingale and Philippa Watson—the tenacious heroines from The Savage Kind—attend a lecture by Roger and, being eager fans, befriend him. He has just been fired from the State Department, another victim of the government-sanctioned anti-gay crusade spearheaded by Senator Joseph McCarthy. Little do the women know, but their pursuit of their old enemy, Adrian Bogdan, a serial killer protected by powerful governmental forces, has led to Roger’s dismissal. Has their persistence brought deadly forces to the team behind their beloved books? 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? The Savage Kind, the first in the trilogy, was set in DC post-WWII. I love that period and wanted to continue exploring it. The early 1950s was a particularly paranoid and oppressive time, so it’s fertile terrain for a tense and twisty story. I also wanted to mingle personal…
1–What is the title of your latest release? ASSASSINS ANONYMOUS 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Imagine John Wick got into a 12-step recovery program for killers. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I set a lot of the book in New York City, which is where I was born and raised, and it helps to set stuff there, because then it’s easy and I don’t have to do any research. But parts of it are also set in London and Prague and Singapore, all of which I’ve visited, and loved, and thought would be fun to write about. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Aside from the whole expert-assassin thing, he’s a pretty chill dude with a good sense of humor, and he has great taste in movies (probably because I’m the one who made him up so, we have the same taste). 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Scary. Thoughtful. Sad. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That I can, in fact, write a book. I have to learn that lesson every time. Despite completing seven novels, whenever I’m in the middle…
