Charlotte Vassell | A Millennial Agatha Christie Vs Evelyn Waugh Satirical Whodunnit Police Procedural
Author Guest / November 17, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THE OTHER HALF 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? A millennial Agatha Christie vs Evelyn Waugh satirical whodunnit police procedural. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I lived in London, a city with some of the worst social inequality in the western world, for over a decade which made setting The Other Half there inevitable. The British class system is so starkly apparent in London compared to other parts of the country that I’ve lived in. Due to the built-up historical nature of the city, wealthy areas are patchworked next to poorer ones. You have council estates over the road from multi-million-pound town houses and even though these people are neighbors their paths barely ever cross. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? I would love to be friends with Caius, we could go to the farmers’ market together. I think I could tolerate Nell in small doses; we could go to the theatre or something where we wouldn’t actually have to talk to each other for too long. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Aspirational, charismatic and dogged…

Amy Clipston | A Rock Star Rocks Her World
Author Guest / November 17, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? STARSTRUCK   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Heather Gordon works in her parents’ restaurant, the Barbecue Pit, which is known for its authentic Carolina barbecue. She loves working there but dreams of opening a bookstore with a bakery that will feature her bookish desserts. Her life is turned upside down when a world-famous rock band comes in to eat one night. Members of the rock band start a food fight and leave a mess, and when Alex Kirwan, the charming and enigmatic lead singer, wants to make amends for his brothers’ (and bandmates’) behavior he invites her to attend one of their concerts as a guest of the band, Heather’s world is turned upside down . . . and sparks fly.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? When I decided to write contemporary romance books, I knew I wanted to base my books in my beloved North Carolina. Starstruck is set in Flowering Grove, which is a fictional town based loosely a small town near where I live. Flowering Grove has a Main Street lined with locally owned stores and restaurants. Everyone…

Marta Perry | An Amish Widow And An Amish Widower Clash Until an Outside Threat Draws Them Together
Author Guest / November 17, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? THANKSGIVING BLESSING is my latest release, and it’s Book Three of the Amish Holiday series from Berkley Books. 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? An Amish widow and an Amish widower collide over their shared property until a threat from outside and a firebug show them that what they have in common is stronger than any differences, giving them the strength to heal each other. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? Since this was the most recent book in a long-running series, it took me back to the familiar community of Promise Glen, which is so real to me that I could walk its streets blindfolded! 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Rebecca and I have a lot in common (although I’ve never had twins!) and I know we’d have long conversations about raising children, gardening, and choosing just the right apples for our favorite Apple Crumb Pie. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Loving, generous, and empathetic 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? To paraphrase scripture, pain lasts for the night, but joy comes with…

Courtney Cole | An Unhappily Married Couple Makes a Wish On an Enchanted Snow Globe
Author Guest / November 17, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? A WISH FOR CHRISTMAS   2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? In this second-chance romance, an unhappily married couple makes a wish on an enchanted snow globe that they had never met, but when they wake up the next day in separate lives, the magic of Christmas helps them to realize that some love is just meant to be.   3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I knew that it would begin in NYC, because… NYC at Christmas.  But I knew they needed to spend the holidays thrown together in a small town, far from the big city, so I created a fictional town called Winter Falls, Wyoming where they grew up together but don’t remember.   4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? I definitely would.  Noel is feisty, ambitious, funny, good-hearted… everything you’d want in a friend.   5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Oh gosh – I accidentally did that above. Lol. I’ll add three bonus words—loyal, beautiful, intelligent.   6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I learned about memory villages, created for dementia…

Constance Fay | Calamity Jane in Space – With Sex
Author Guest / November 16, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? CALAMITY, Book 1 of the Uncharted Hearts series 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Calamity Jane in space – with sex 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I’ve always loved science fiction and I wanted to write one that had a tinge of the west to it. I grew up in Arizona and live in Colorado and there’s something about a desert that appeals to me. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Temper is a lot more fun than I am! I’d be that annoying friend in the back asking if everyone has enough water and if we’re really planning on going out and being social after dark. I’d hang out with her, but she might not hang out with me. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Impulsive, heroic, leader 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? I spent an unhealthy amount of time (is there a healthy amount?) reading and listening to Jim Jones’ “sermons” to get my cult-speech right. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Unless the plan…

She aims to bring fresh remixes of beloved romance constructs whether that’s translating the blue-stocking/rake pairing from historical romance into a contemporary PHD/porn star pairing (The Roommate), turning the “sex for science” framework into an exploration of connection when a sex ed CEO and hot rabbi use the syllabus they wrote for a modern intimacy seminar as a blueprint for falling in love (The Intimacy Experiment), or her latest foray into contemporary with light magical elements which allowed her to achieve the lifelong goals of writing an enemies-to-lovers knife to the throat scene when an aspiring curse breaker and a disgraced archeologist find themselves unknowingly accepting conflicting assignments in the same infamous Scottish Castle (Do Your Worst).   About: Rosie Danan is a romance reader and writer. When she doesn’t have her nose in a book (hers or someone else’s) she enjoys jogging…

Matt Coyle | A Private Investigator Battles a Brain Disease and Enemies From His Past as He Tries to Stay Alive to See His Estranged Family
Author Guest / November 15, 2023

1–What is the title of your latest release? ODYSSEY’S END 2–What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book? Private Investigator Rick Cahill battles a traumatic, potentially fatal, brain disease and enemies from his past as he tries to stay alive long enough to see his estranged family one last time. 3–How did you decide where your book was going to take place? I wanted Rick to be isolated, alone and surrounded by men who want to kill him and I found the perfect real location up in the Southern California mountains. 4–Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life? Probably not. He’s a dangerous man. 5–What are three words that describe your protagonist? Damaged, determined, dangerous. 6–What’s something you learned while writing this book? That, subconsciously, I made family the emotional driver of my last three books. 7–Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done? Each day I revise what I wrote the day before to get back into the story. 8–What’s your favorite foodie indulgence? Chocolate. 9–Describe your writing space/office! Spartan with a print of Pacific Coast Highway circa 1930 hanging on the wall across from me. It gives me the right…

Adriana Mather | Author-Reader Match: MOM COM
Author Guest / November 14, 2023

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match” where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It’s our great pleasure to present Adriana Mather!   Writes: Contemporary romantic comedy (drama-dy?) that is reminiscent of 90’s era movies with big banter, big feelings, and a whole lotta heart! MOM COM is my adult debut and my biggest hope is that it gives you as much joy reading as it gave me writing it.   About: If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain…Sorry, but I just cannot help myself! This opportunity is rife with silly joy (my fav!), something kids know as an inherent truth. If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a parent it’s that kids have wisdom adults don’t—like e.e. Cummings poem says “children guessed, but only a few and down they forgot as up they grew.” To children the world is an absolute wonder. I strive to bring that kind of warmth to the world and my writing. I’m an actor, producer, and writer (also cat servant, pizza enthusiast, and lover of cozy socks). My very first scene in my very…
